General Summary:The Business Analyst II plays a key role in supporting the agile team by collaborating with the Product Owner to define and document acceptance criteria.
This role requires deep functional knowledge, analytical skills, and a focus on delivering high-quality digital solutions. Business Analyst II is responsible for ensuring solutions meet business needs, maintaining product backlogs, and helping the team achieve its goals efficiently.
Experience in Leave Management and Fineos is a plus!
Hybrid: 2 days onsite in Portland, ME, Chattanooga, TN or Columbia, SC.Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working in an agile environment.
  • Expertise in business process analysis, with a strong focus on customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Agile Development Methodologies.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within teams and across various organizational areas.
  • Experience in Fineos and leave management systems.
  • Familiarity with UX processes and tools for integrating user needs into development.
  • IIBA certification is a plus.
     

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the agile team to ensure work items are aligned with the IT Delivery roadmap and updated in backlog tools for automated reporting and metrics tracking.
  • Identify and ensure key data points for product KPIs are measurable, trackable, and integrated into development processes.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of client personas to refine work items and ensure the agile team meets customer needs.
  • Ensure work items are well-defined and maintain their integrity as they are refined and decomposed throughout the product backlog.
  • Support Product Owner in prioritizing backlog items by ensuring accurate, up-to-date information is available.
  • Ensure functional and non-functional requirements are documented and represented effectively within the product backlog.
  • Verify that user stories meet the definition of ready/done, with accurate data and content for transparency and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and subject matter experts to create clear, concise user stories with precise acceptance criteria.
  • Lead the decomposition of stories to support just-in-time planning and agile execution.
  • Work with UX teams to ensure excellent user experience by incorporating personas and user needs into product backlog requirements.
  • Configure third-party/cloud solutions, including layouts, workflows, and reporting, to meet business needs.
  • Participate in acceptance testing and ensure proper documentation of test results, defect management, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure project progress is tracked, documented, and shared with the agile team through daily stand-ups and ALM tools.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$73,300.00-$150,500.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
