About the Role:

We’re seeking a multidisciplinary Brand Designer to elevate MasterClass through conceptual thinking, bold creative direction, and detail-oriented design execution. This role is about more than beautiful visuals—it’s about setting systems, driving consistency, and building campaigns that blend brand integrity with performance goals.

This is a high-impact IC role where curiosity, innovation, and collaboration matter as much as craft. You’ll directly shape our expanding branded house—including MasterClass, MasterClass On Call, and MasterClass Certificates. Your work will define how millions of people experience the world’s best knowledge, stories, and skills.

We’re seeking a Multidisciplinary Designer who blends world-class brand design with motion capability and systems thinking. This role requires the craft of a traditional brand designer—visual identity, campaign development, art direction—plus the ability to inform and execute motion design for paid ads and brand storytelling.

You’ll shape the visual expression of MasterClass across brand, performance, building the systems that allow our creative to scale across channels while maintaining premium taste and clarity.

This role is ideal for a designer with sharp instincts, a strategic point of view, and a comfort with ambiguity inside a high-growth, high-velocity environment.


What You Will Do:
  • Design for the full marketing ecosystem
    Turn briefs into compelling solutions for GTM including  paid media,  email, social and product surfaces
  • Inform and execute motion design
    Create lightweight motion studies, storyboards, and animations that strengthen creative performance and elevate brand expression.
  • Build and maintain scalable design systems
    Develop frameworks, templates, and repeatable visual structures that support fast-moving launches and long-term brand consistency.
    Shape brand standards
    Evolve guidelines across imagery, typography, motion, and layout to ensure coherence across teams and channels.
  • Collaborate across disciplines
    Partner closely with marketing, content, and performance teams to optimize creative for impact—balancing storytelling with measurable results.
  • Operate with speed and autonomy
    Work effectively inside ambiguity, moving from idea to execution quickly while holding a high bar for craft.
About You:
  • Experience: 6–8 years in brand design or art direction, with a multidisciplinary portfolio spanning digital, social, and campaign work.
  • Track Record: Proven success leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects from concept to execution.
  • Craft: Exceptional visual design and systems thinking, with an eye for both big-picture ideas and pixel-level detail.
  • Ways of Working: Fast, iterative, and comfortable turning feedback into stronger work.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communicator and partner in cross-functional, remote-first environments.
  • Mindset: Self-directed, thrives in ambiguity, and eager to adopt new tools and approaches to push creative standards higher.

The salary range listed is for NYC/CA/WA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.

MasterClass’s salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry. In addition to salary, we also offer equity and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, flexible PTO, and more). The range listed is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted.
