The role is responsible for financial planning, cost controlling and decision support activities for standalone Sandoz Technology (Digital & IT). The role partners with the Technology business teams to achieve sustainable and compliant financial results and to allocate resources effectively. A key element of the business partnering will involve financial modelling of investments/projects including business case, impact on future operational cost, resource allocation and accounting treatment.
Job Description
Major Accountabilities:
To provide meaningful financial information on Sandoz’ Technology units, including:
- Consolidate and review the monthly operating results for accuracy, proper accounting treatment and compliance with internal and external control requirements. Ensure accurate and timely management reporting of Technology costs for Sandoz.
- Ensure proper month-end closing (accruals, open purchase order balances and capitalization of fixed and intangible assets in line with accounting policies).Investigate and explain major variances to budget, forecasts, previous LO’s and prior year.
- Understand balance sheet implications arising from operating and investing activities including impacts from prior period (e.g., carryover impacts impacting current year reporting and forecasting activities)
- Ensure proper preparation, documentation, and controls for investment requests and to support resource allocation decision making for Technology organization.
- Support and implement approved CARs. Ensure proper endorsement/approval of CARs and cost tracking. Ensure timely and accurate BPC submissions for planning cycles.
- Support the investment planning process and management review of planning cycles. Provide financial analysis for ad hoc projects including business cases for major Technology initiatives.
- Evaluate and financially model IT and Digital projects (projected financial impact; actual results vs business case) and supplier contracts as requested by senior management. Evaluate software licensing contract and options. Business partner/SPOC for Finance topics to/for Technology PMs
Must have:
- 5 to 10 years of relevant accounting/financial experience, extensive BPA experience highly preferred
- Excellent analytical and strategic skills
- Ability to understand the bigger picture (i.e. impacts of Technology investments across the business, etc)
- Experience with interfacing effectively with parent and global counterparts
- In-depth knowledge of Sandoz business information systems and structure, including SHAPE, Data Warehouse, and BPC highly preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing; ability to clearly explain financial information to a variety of audiences
- Strong PC skills including excellent proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
