Position Overview

MPC has an opportunity for an BP&A Analyst/Senior BP&A Analyst! The role is responsible for capturing, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting financial and operational data in support of the organization.  This Analyst will own North Division Marketing / Rack data analysis for Clean Products. These responsibilities are carried out in support of the annual Business Plan, monthly and quarterly reporting and forecasting, and other related initiatives.  This role will report to the Manager BP&A, Clean Products North Division and be based in Findlay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides variance analysis, identifies trends, and offers preliminary commentary for monthly and quarterly operational and financial performance results (North Division Clean Products).
  • Assists in the development of business plans, forecasts, and expense budgets, gathers data, updates models and assists with preparing presentations.
  • Conducts detailed value chain / commercial financial analysis and trend identification, identifying discrepancies or deviations from expectations versus forecasted results. Provides initial insights to senior team members.
  • Maintains financial models or develops medium-complexity models to support monitoring of KPIs and performance metrics or other ad hoc requests.
  • Collaborates with Clean Products divisional team members, participates in meetings to discuss analysis and/or analytical needs to support ongoing improvement.
  • Identifies areas for process improvement within the BP&A function, proposing changes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline required.  Finance majors preferred.
  • Three (3) – Six (6) years in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Oil & Gas, Downstream or Energy experience preferred
  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as Power BI preferred
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Business Warehouse, SAP and Right-Angle experience preferred
