We’re Dish Society — a chef-driven, farm-to-table restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We move fast, but with intention. We care deeply about food quality, team development, and creating an environment people actually enjoy working in.
We’re looking for a Back of House Operations Leader to support our Austin locations (South First & Mueller). This role is perfect for someone who loves being on the line and developing people—someone who can step into any kitchen, elevate a team, and leave it stronger than they found it.
This isn’t a sit-in-the-office role. This is hands-on leadership.
What This Role Is
Think of this as a Kitchen Manager-level leader without the traditional title—someone who:
- Leads from the line—setting the pace, standards, and tone for the kitchen
- Coaches and develops BOH team members and trainers
- Ensures systems, training, and standards are executed consistently
- Floats between locations to support where needed most
What You’ll Do
Lead in the Kitchen
- Work all stations as needed (grill, sauté, expo, prep, etc.)
- Support service during peak times to ensure strong execution and ticket flow
- Set the tone for urgency, organization, cleanliness, and food quality
Develop the Team
- Coach BOH team members in real time—on the line, not from the sidelines
- Support onboarding and training of new hires
- Ensure training programs are being followed correctly and aligned with company standards
- Develop strong trainers who uphold and reinforce standards
Drive Standards & Execution
- Maintain consistency in recipes, plating, and food quality
- Ensure standards are met on every dish and during every shift
- Identify gaps in performance and actively work to improve them
- Hold team members accountable while leading with respect and clarity
Own the Systems
- Support and execute ordering processes
- Assist with inventory and food cost awareness
- Help ensure proper prep, pars, and kitchen organization
- Reinforce cleanliness, food safety, and health standards
Be a Connector Between Stores
- Split time between South First and Mueller based on business needs
- Bring consistency and best practices across both locations
- Partner with GMs and leaders to support staffing, training, and operations
What We’re Looking For
You’re a great fit if you:
- Are fully bilingual (English & Spanish) – required
- Have strong kitchen experience across multiple stations
- Have previous BOH leadership experience (Lead, Supervisor, KM, etc.)
- Are comfortable working 50+ hours per week in a fast-paced environment
- Take pride in developing others—not just getting through a shift
- Lead with accountability, but know how to coach and teach effectively
- Stay calm under pressure and can jump in wherever needed
- Understand systems like ordering, inventory, and kitchen organization

Compensation & Schedule
- $25/hour
- 50+ hours per week (overtime eligible)
- Open availability required (including weekends and holidays)

Dish Society is a farm-to-table concept featuring local ingredient inspired and chef driven options in a cool, sophisticated, social atmosphere. We source a majority of our ingredients from local suppliers in and around Houston. Our food represents modern takes on traditional favorites with a southern influence. We provide counter service for breakfast, lunch, and brunch and full service at dinner. A portion of our menu items change seasonally based on what's available. We're growing and looking to expand in multiple markets across Texas and the US.
