The Bodily Injury Claims Examiner will investigate, reserve, and negotiate resolution of moderate to high exposure third party transportation liability claims of significant value in a self-insured environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The job functions listed below represent the essential job duties and responsibilities of the above-listed position.
• Conduct investigations to analyze liability exposure, provide reserving recommendations, verify actual damages associated with the loss, and conduct active negotiation for claim resolution.
• Works closely with in-house and external counsel in the management of litigated claim files. Examiner will be required to attend mediations and trials as deemed necessary.
• Prepare in-house reserve and settlement memorandum for committee review.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

• Exceptional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills through the use of telephone, email, and in-person contact.
• Proficient in the management of the litigation process ensuring timely and cost effective claim resolution.
• Manage a claims inventory in a fast paced environment, while demonstrating persistence and problem solving skills.
• Determine the need for independent adjusters, cause and origin experts and independent medical examiners.
• Ability to analyze medical records, litigation documentation and apply applicable state statutory limits.
• Proficient in the operation of a PC, and Risk Management software related software to include Word and Excel.
• This position requires the ability to travel intermittently and up to 25%.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-3 years of casualty or bodily injury claims experience preferred.
