Provides advanced levels of equipment and/or departmental service and support. Performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on one or more categories of specialized biomedical, imaging equipment, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies.
Job Duties
  • Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload to achieve a consistently high level of PM compliance over time.
  • Provides safety checks, repairs, and installations of biomedical and communications equipment. 15%
  • Identifies and obtains supplies and other materials required to service, maintain, and repair equipment at the lowest possible cost.
  • Establishes and maintains supporting technical literature such as manufacturer’s literature, references standards, specifications, and other documents necessary for supporting the biomedical program.
  • Ensures that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards.
  • Makes effective presentations to small groups of peers to ensure staff remains up to date on new trends.
  • Provides in-service and training on biomedical equipment and electrical safety.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields or
  • High School Diploma/GED along with 5 years of progressive experience in performing direct component-level repair and maintenance on both general and model-specific equipment in the medical imaging field will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 2 years progressive experience in performing direct component level repair and maintenance on both general and model-specific equipment in the medical imaging field.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of source, use, and applications of alternative parts providers as related to electronic or electromechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems.
  • Ability to use vendor-supplied service documentation, technical manuals, and general electronics industry parts specification materials in order to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to be self motivated and self disciplined.
  • Effectively deals with multiple and changing priorities.
  • Must be able to visit multiple business locations. (Dependent on employment location)

Additional Qualifications:

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields or
    • Associate’s Degree Attendance at five or more equipment-specific training courses related to the equipment-specific specialty area of expertise (extensive hands on experience may be considered equivalent to specific training courses).
    • 5 years progressive experience in performing direct component level repair and maintenance on both general and model-specific equipment in the medical imaging field.
    • CRES - Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist - Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation
    • DL - Driver's License_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

    Physical Demands
    Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

    Skills Required
