Engineering ManagerYour role and responsibilities (Mandatory)
In this role, you will be responsible for developing technically and commercially competitive proposals for robotic and industrial automation projects. The role involves analyzing customer requirements, RFQs, and tender documents to define optimal automation solutions, including robotic cells, material handling systems, palletizing/depalletizing solutions, conveyors, EOATs, and related automation equipment. The incumbent collaborates with customers, sales teams, engineering functions, and vendors to prepare concept layouts, technical proposals, compliance documents, cost estimates, and project budgets.

This role is contributing to the ABB Robotics at Bangalore (Nelamangala).
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Prepare technical proposals and solution documentation by analyzing RFQs, customer specifications, scope requirements, compliance matrices, and concept layouts to support business opportunities.
- Develop project cost estimates and commercial inputs through vendor evaluation, cost analysis, budgeting, and estimation of robotics, automation equipment, electrical systems, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Develop automation concepts and engineered solutions based on customer requirements, including robotic cells, EOATs, conveyors, material handling systems, safety enclosures, and other automation equipment.
- Create and optimize system layouts and simulations using AutoCAD and Robot Studio, performing reachability studies, cycle-time analysis, and validating automation concepts prior to implementation.
- Support robotics and automation project execution, including robot integration, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization at customer sites.
- Review and coordinate electrical and controls requirements, including PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, industrial networks, machine safety systems, electrical schematics, and I/O architecture.
Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized and reputed university/institution.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial robotics and automation, with hands-on expertise in applications such as robotic palletizing/de-palletizing, arc welding, secondary case packing, material handling systems, conveyors, EOATs, and special-purpose machinery.
- Proven experience delivering automation solutions within General Industry, Consumer Goods, and pharmaceutical sectors, including concept development, system design, and project execution.
- Strong proficiency in mechanical design and engineering tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CATIA; experience with robotic simulation software (e.g., ABB Robot Studio) is preferred.
- Sound understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation components, with the ability to select and integrate standard equipment. Knowledge of PFMEA/DFMEA, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing practices is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, planning, and project management skills, with proven experience in team leadership, vendor coordination, quality management, and willingness to travel as required for project execution and customer support.
