BI Reporting Lead

The BI Reporting Lead is responsible for architecting, delivering, and governing enterprise reporting and analytics solutions leveraging the Crane Enterprise DataLake House for Panametrics, Druck and Reuter-Stokes. This role will drive the end-to-end reporting lifecycle—from source data ingestion (SAP ERP, Salesforce, and other systems) through metadata-driven ETL frameworks (Databricks, PySpark, SQL), to advanced visualization and self-service analytics using BI tools such as ThoughtSpot. The BI Reporting Lead will ensure robust data governance, security, and cataloging (Databricks Unity Catalog), and partner with business stakeholders to enable actionable insights, data-driven decision making, and scalable reporting solutions across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architect and own BI reporting solutions: Design and implement reporting and visualization platforms (ThoughtSpot, SQL endpoints, downstream applications) on top of the Crane Enterprise Data LakeHouse.
• Lead data ingestion and transformation: Oversee ingestion from SAP ERP (SLT Replication, Datasphere, InsightSoftware), Salesforce, and other sources; manage ETL workflows using Databricks, PySpark, and SQL.
• Govern data layers: Ensure proper structuring of Bronze (raw), Silver (analytical/conformed), and Gold (curated/consumption) data layers for optimal reporting and analytics.
• Metadata-driven ETL: Develop and maintain metadata-driven ETL frameworks for profiling, cleansing, aggregation, and consumption, leveraging Databricks Delta/Spark.
• Enable self-service analytics: Deploy and support BI tools (ThoughtSpot, SQL endpoints) for business users, ensuring ease of use, scalability, and performance.
• Data catalog & governance: Implement and maintain data cataloging, lineage, access controls, and auditing using Databricks Unity Catalog and related governance tools.
• Security & compliance: Ensure platform management and security (Azure Key Vault, RBAC, AD), encryption, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Oversee deployment pipelines (Azure DevOps, Terraform), monitoring, and operational readiness for BI solutions.
• Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with business leaders to translate requirements into actionable reports and dashboards; drive adoption and change management.
• Continuous improvement: Capture lessons learned, update BI architecture playbooks, and drive reuse of templates and standards.
• Visual management: Architect and deliver dashboards to track KPIs, data quality, usage metrics, and business value realization.
• Financial discipline: Provide visibility to BI program/project costs; set up controls to optimize spend and ensure value delivery.

Essential Qualifications / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years designing and delivering BI/reporting solutions in complex, global manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data lake architectures (Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Delta Lake), ETL frameworks (PySpark, SQL), and BI tools (ThoughtSpot, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
• Proven track record in data ingestion from SAP ERP and other enterprise sources using SLT Replication, Datasphere, and similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of data cataloging, governance, and security (Databricks Unity Catalog, Azure Key Vault, RBAC, AD).
• Experience with DevOps/CI-CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Terraform) for BI/reporting deployments.
• Excellent communication and executive-level presentation skills; ability to simplify complex topics and influence decision-making.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

• Advanced degree (MBA/MS) in Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• Relevant certifications (Databricks, Azure, BI tools).
• Experience with metadata-driven ETL frameworks and large-scale data transformation.
• Familiarity with data privacy/compliance (GDPR, ITAR, DFARS, CMMC, UK MOD).
• Proficiency with data cataloging, lineage, and monitoring tools.
• Experience managing cross-functional global teams and third-party vendors/system integrators.
