Responsibilities
The Benefits & Total Rewards Specialist will be a trusted resource to the companies’ employees. The primary responsibility of the position is to oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, ensuring they run smoothly, comply with regulations and are well-communicated to employees. In addition, the Benefits & Total Rewards Specialist provides positive customer services in responding to benefit questions and educating them on the total rewards offered by the company demonstrating knowledge of the CNS Mission, Vision, and Values in their meaningful work.
This role is onsite, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Assists in developing communication strategies and materials for benefit programs, including open enrollment and other key benefit events.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders and the internal HR team on benefit projects such as annual enrollment, audits, and vendor file integrations, while providing guidance and support to employees, HRIS representatives, and managers
- Supports HR Generalists with other team and department activities as workload permits.
- Employee Engagement and Education
- Provides day-to-day support for employee benefits inquiries, handling basic questions on eligibility, coverage, and payroll deductions.
- Conducts benefits orientations and HR Brown Bag training sessions for employees.
- Develops and delivers communication strategies to educate employees about their benefits, perks, discounts, wellness options, daily pay, employee assistance program, tuition reimbursement, referral bonuses, and other benefit and reward options.
- Contributes to morale, engagement, recognition, and wellness activities, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Administration and Compliance
- Conducts initial reviews and monthly audits of benefits data and deductions, identifying and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with ADP Comprehensive Benefits. Uses defined process to calculate and coordinate benefit premium collection during leave of absence and arrears premiums after leave of absence.
- Assists internal senior team members with benefit audits and annual 1094/1095C form preparation.
- Communicates with third party vendors to assist the employee with updates and inquires as needed.
- Completes HSA imports and reconciliations for High Deductible medical plans.
- Assists with administering the tuition reimbursement program.
Qualifications
Experience and Education
- Educational Background: Associates degree in related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Work Experience: At least 2 years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR role. Working understanding of human resources and benefits principles, practices, and procedures. Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs and relevant laws and regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint), HRIS, and other related software and computer applications.
