The Benefits Administrator collaborates closely with team members to accurately administer the company’s benefit plans and programs while safeguarding confidential and sensitive information. Serving as a primary point of contact for team members and their families, the Benefits Administrator provides timely support, guidance, and education on all company benefit programs. The role also ensures compliance with applicable state and federal requirements, including recordkeeping and reporting, and helps develop and expand centralized benefit services in partnership with field leaders and the Benefits Administration Team.
This role serves as a subject matter expert on a broad range of benefits programs and projects. The Benefits Administrator applies this expertise when partnering with external vendors and members of the global People Team and supports continuous improvement of benefit processes and programs.
This position is based out of a Barry-Wehmiller site office and reports to the Benefits Leader.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Uses strong knowledge of all benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, disability, FSA, HSA, leaves and voluntary benefits.
- Supports day-to-day team member benefit related questions and/or issues.
- Serves as a resource for new team members during the onboarding process.
- Responsible for HRIS data entry using Workday (new hires, status updates, job changes, etc.)
- Supports People Team project initiatives, as needed
- Prepare vendor invoices for payment
- Assists team members with solving eligibility, claims and billing issues in employee benefits programs
- Partners with brokers, vendors, legal counsel, and others, as needed
- Assists in the implementation and introduction of new and modified benefit plans
- Participates in preparing communication materials to team members
- Other duties include but are not limited to leave administration as required in order to support the needs of the business
Job Specifications:
- Demonstrates knowledge of health care group insurance, leave administration and general benefit policies, practices and legal requirements
- Strong service orientation, and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and vendor partners.
- Current knowledge of applicable laws such as ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, IRS Section 125, etc. as well as related HR trends and best practices
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail
- Maintains confidentiality
- Displays effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proactively takes ownership of tasks and project action items
- Perseveres in problem solving with a continuous improvement mindset
- Capacity to work independently as well as on diverse teams
- Organizes, plans, and prioritizes work
- Demonstrate strong proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent professional experience
- Experience with benefit programs and related rules and regulations
- Previous experience using Workday is a plus
- CEBS or PHR certification is a plus
Supervisory/Responsibility:
Individual contributor with no direct reports
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in a standard office setting working at a desk or table on a level surface.
Position Type:
This is a regular, full-time position with the understanding that a regular workweek will require extended days and hours as needed to meet business needs.
Travel:
Occasional domestic travel may be required for this position.
Physical Demands:
The position requires sitting or standing at a desk and use of a computer for prolonged periods of time. Performing the role frequently uses close vision, speech, hearing, and dexterity to operate office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
