WellSpan Philhaven's Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) program provides evidence-based behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and their families throughout Central Pennsylvania. Our multidisciplinary team includes professionals from the fields of applied behavior analysis, psychology, counseling, social work, psychiatry, and education who work collaboratively to improve the emotional, behavioral, and developmental well-being of youth in their homes, schools, and communities.

Through individualized assessment, treatment planning, caregiver support, and collaboration with schools and community partners, our team helps children and adolescents develop meaningful skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and achieve success in everyday settings.

The IBHS program serves children and adolescents experiencing behavioral, emotional, social, and developmental challenges. Individuals referred for services may have diagnoses or concerns that include:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Behavioral and emotional regulation challenges
  • Social skills deficits
  • School-related concerns
  • Family and caregiver support needs
  • Other developmental, behavioral, or mental health diagnoses

General Summary

The Behavior Consultant is a key member of the IBHS treatment team, providing behavioral assessment, treatment planning, consultation, and caregiver support for children and adolescents receiving services in home, school, and community settings. The Behavior Consultant conducts behavioral assessments, develops individualized treatment recommendations, collaborates with caregivers and treatment team members, and ensures services are delivered using evidence-based behavioral principles.

Working under the supervision and collaboration of licensed and credentialed clinical professionals, the Behavior Consultant helps clients achieve treatment goals through individualized interventions, skill development, and family-centered care.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:

  • Engages in functional assessment of problematic behaviors of clients as well as assessments of skill deficits, motivating, and other environmental variables in order to increase use of safe and socially acceptable behaviors and decrease problematic behaviors.
  • Accurately collects and analyzes behavior data to make decisions about treatment interventions. Designs treatment plan goals and interventions that are based in research and are aligned with the dimensions of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Oversees and provides training and monitors fidelity of behavioral interventions for family members and other professional staff caring for the patient.
  • Provides direct in-situ, one-on-one, and group supervision for behavior technician.
  • Collaborates and educates family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment.
  • Maintains appropriate written or electronic documentation in accordance to department guidelines. Maintains the billable expectation of the program.
  • Attends treatment team meetings, supervision meetings, trainings, performance evaluations, and other administrative meetings as assigned.

Common Expectations:

  • Demonstrates abilities to be flexible and pro-active in problem solving.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis through interaction with other ABA based professionals as well as ongoing professional development opportunities within and outside of WellSpan obtaining at least 12 hours of direct instruction in ABA through BACB credit approved courses or training led by a BCBA each year.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize potential customer relations problems and notify appropriate supervisor.

Qualifications

Qualifications
Minimum Education:

  • Masters Degree Applied Behavior Analysis, or another related field with Certificate in ABA. Required

Work Experience:

  • 1 year Experience in providing Applied Behavior Analysis services and experience in developing/implementing behavioral analytic treatment plans under Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) supervision. Required and
  • 1 year Experience of knowledge in the care and management of the unique needs of individuals with developmental disorders. Preferred

Licenses:

  • Licensed Behavioral Specialist Upon Hire Required

Driver's License Statement:

Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
  • Analytical abilities.
  • Visual ability to observe patient behavior and environment in order to prepare and review written treatment plan.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation from one client to another.
  • Must demonstrate a strong professional interest in being a part of a multidisciplinary team that specializes in the assessment and treatment of the social, emotional and behavioral needs of children and adolescents with Mental health diagnosis and/or developmental disorders
  • Ability to work under stress.

Skills Required

  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or related field with Certificate in ABA
