About Jameson Distillery Bow Street
Our Visitor Experience at our Jameson Distillery Bow St. has been the most celebrated address in Irish whiskey since 1780 and a centre piece of Smithfield. At our Visitor Experience in the heart of Dublin 7, the story of Jameson comes to life through our World’s Leading Distillery Tour, cocktail-making classes, premium whiskey tastings and blending classes. Each year we welcome thousands of visitors from all across the globe through our doors, where we connect our guests to our world class whiskey production process and deep-rooted history.
The Job
We are now on the lookout for a Bar Manager, to report to our Operations Manager. In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our bars, inspire our guests, and make a meaningful impact on the world of whiskey. From managing day-to-day operations to leading innovative change, this role is your opportunity to leave a lasting mark and celebrate the spirit of Ireland.
What's involved?
Bar Operations
- Lead the daily operations of multiple bars, ensuring all shifts run smoothly across Bow Street Distillery's bars, including Scullys, our private venue and off-site events.
- Efficiently manage bar inventory, place orders in a timely manner, and monitor stock levels to prevent shortages.
- Plan and create team rosters in advance to ensure adequate staffing levels during busy periods and events.
- Ensure all administrative tasks are completed efficiently, including daily reports, logs, and other operational documentation.
Employee Engagement & Development
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture by ensuring clear and open communication.
- Empower this close team to deliver a world class service and uphold our highest standards of excellence.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning by providing comprehensive training on delivering the best Jameson drinks.
People Management
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly team catch-ups and 1:1 meetings to communicate performance feedback, business updates, and important operational information.
- Engage with staff on the job to provide support, guidance, and hands-on leadership.
- Act as a point of contact between the team and senior management to relay important updates and business priorities.
- Oversee staff performance appraisals and offer constructive feedback to encourage personal and professional development.
- Develop a team of skilled, motivated individuals who work well together and support one another in achieving bar targets.
- Lead by example, ensuring the team upholds high standards of customer service and bar operations.
- Collaborate with colleagues across all our teams including the Visitor Experiences, to deliver an unforgettable brand experience.
Systems & Reporting
- Utilise and manage office applications such as Microsoft Office, CORE, and SAP to streamline operations.
- Embrace and lead the use of technology for rostering, stock management, and financial reporting.
- Ensure all team members are trained and competent in using relevant software systems.
Health & Safety
- Ensure all safety and security procedures are strictly followed, safeguarding both the team and the business.
- Be the bar’s champion for health and safety, conducting routine checks and ensuring a safe work environment for staff and customers alike.
- Promote a safety-first culture within the bar, regularly reviewing and updating safety protocols to maintain compliance with legal and company standards.
Customer Engagement
- Ensure the highest level of customer service is consistently delivered across all bars by creating memorable interactions with every visitor, ensuring their experience is world-class
- Live by Jameson’s values and behaviours, leading the team in creating memorable experiences for all guests.
- Address and resolve customer complaints effectively and in a timely manner, turning challenges into opportunities for improved service.
Commercial Growth
- Monitor bar performance in line with budgets and revenue targets, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to execute promotional campaigns and events that drive footfall and increase bar sales.
- Track performance of promotions, providing feedback to management and marketing on their success and areas for improvement.
What we're looking for
- We seek a candidate who brings at least two years of operational management experience in a dynamic consumer-oriented setting. While experience within the drinks/hospitality sector is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite.
- A world class approach to service standards with a keen eye for detail.
- Approachable and professional management style, with a natural ability to foster an environment of collaboration and respect
- Strong ability to navigate team dynamics while also thriving independently.
- A great communicator, capable of engaging and inspiring groups of any size.
- Driven self-starter who shows initiative, problem solve and connects well with all sorts of people
- Proficient in HACCP, Licensing Laws and compliance.
