Job Overview:
The Banquet Houseperson is responsible for assisting in the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet and catering events. This role requires a strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup:
- Set up tables, chairs, linens, and other equipment according to event specifications.
- Assist in the placement of centerpieces, table settings, and other decorative elements.
- Ensure all equipment is clean and functional.
- Service:
- Transport food and beverage items to and from the kitchen and banquet areas.
- Assist in the service of food and beverages to guests, as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas throughout the event.
- Breakdown:
- Remove all food and beverage items from tables and dispose of waste properly.
- Strip tables and stack chairs.
- Clean and sanitize all equipment and surfaces.
- Transport used linens and equipment to designated areas.
- General:
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Work cooperatively with other team members.
- Be flexible and able to adapt to changing schedules and event requirements.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a banquet or hospitality setting preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Physical Demands
- Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying items.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, often hectic environment.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
- Irregular work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
