Overview

We are seeking an experienced Banner Developer (Oracle Developer) with strong expertise in Oracle technologies and preferably experience with Banner CIS. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining applications within an Oracle 19c database environment. Development activities will include writing and maintaining applications using a combination of Oracle Forms 19c, Oracle Reports 19c, SQL, PL/SQL, ProC, and ProCOBOL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Oracle application development and database programming, with the ability to maintain and enhance legacy applications while supporting ongoing development initiatives.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Programming in a Windows and a Unix environment

  • Assignments will include changes to a Banner CIS product, add-on applications to

  • Banner CIS, and interface programming in batch and online systems.

  • Estimate assigned work effort and be accountable for deliverables and completion dates

  • Analyze, review, and modify programs to increase operating efficiency

  • Follow and improve established software delivery lifecycles, programming standards and frameworks

  • Development includes new product investment initiatives and client-requested cu stommodifications and enhancements

  • Participate in peer-review requirements and design

  • Clarify business requirements by working with business analysts and end users; create high-level and detailed design specifications to address user goals; formulate plans –

  • outlining steps required to develop programs for design deliverables

  • Ability to adapt in an environment that demands customer satisfaction

  • Ability to provide 24x7 (Tier 3) production application support

 

Job Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience working as a PL/SQL Software Developer

  • Banner CIS experience (Nice to have)

  • Familiarity with navigating UNIX environments (AIX is a plus) and using basic UNIX utilities

  • Editors: vi or emacs

  • Utilities: awk, diff, find, grep, sed, tar.

Experience developing

  • 5+ years of Oracle development experience

  • Developing and maintaining PL/SQL (packages, procedures, functions, and triggers) that contain complex queries and perform extensive file I/O

  • Oracle Forms

  • Oracle Reports is a plus

  • Oracle IDEs: SQL Developer, PL/SQL Developer, or T.O.A.D.

  • UNIX shell scripting (sh, ksh)

Nice to Have

  • Pro*C (or C/C++)

  • Pro*COBOL (or rudimentary understanding of COBOL syntax)

 Understanding of application business processes and how they can be improved

through the application of technology
