This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Silo Ridge Bakery, set inside of village center of Amenia, New York.
Silo Ridge Field Club is seeking a full time, year-round Bakery Manger to join the Silo Ridge Bakery Department.
The Bakery Manager will oversee the daily activities of a small batch bakery café serving community guests and producing daily bake shop needs for the members of Silo Ridge Field Club. Success in this position will be managing the schedule for full production operations, performing opening/closing and supervising service staff in a warm welcoming environment. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members, guests and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production management and quality control
    • Collaborating with the Baker in managing daily production schedule for needs at the Silo Ridge Field Club’s food and beverage outlets and items for retail sale in the bakery case
    • Taking special occasion custom orders
    • Recommend daily pastries and bakery specialty items to reflect the season
    • Oversee accurate inventory management and control. Maintain stock as needed.
    • Understand and comply with all local and NYS health & safety regulatory compliance requirements.
    • Ensure cleanliness, sanitation and efficiency
    • Communicate with all vendors, establish supplier relationships that build efficiency
  • Create a positive guest experience
    • Hiring and training Barista/Counter service staff
    • Arrange exciting and inviting displays in the café
    • Oversee the point of sale system
    • Manage staff schedule
    • Offer Discovery level hospitality to community with every smile!

Qualifications

  • Prior work experience in guest services and food service, 3-5 years
  • Exceptional customer service skills and demonstrated sense of urgency 
  • Excellent communications skills for interacting with team members and customers.
  • Proficiency with point of sale operations for opening/closing
  • Supervisory experience, at least 1-2 years. Come with a mentoring super-power!
  • Superior organization skills required
  • Must understand attention to detail

Additional Requirements

  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
