Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $30.17.

Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Production Backup Supervisor. Shift is TBD.
The Etowah, TN plant houses two major furnaces and two glass mat lines. Molten glass is produced on both furnaces and converted to a continuous filament fiber. The fiber is chopped to a prescribed length and then used in various processes in the building industry. 


Responsibilities:

  • Crew coverage
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings.
  • Monitors production reporting and scheduling in various systems
  • Executes product changeovers with crew.
  • Enters/monitors downtime, scrap and work requests.
  • Time & Attendance through ADP
  • Oversees the machine attendant/dry end chief training process including improving the system and delivering training to new Machine attendants/dry end chiefs, and refresher training as needed.
  • Drives improvements in mat department SOPs, JSAs, and hazard assessments to improve knowledge retention and transfer in the mat department.
  • Responsible for new mat department employee orientation
  • Leads department safety initiatives by working with safety leads on various safety projects.
  • Relieves shift supervisor as needed
  • Other duties as required

 Qualifications:

  • High School degree and/or 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work well with a diversified workforce at all levels of the business
  • Ability to proactively seek to resolve problems and take initiative to get the job done
  • Industry related experience preferred
  • Proven experience in mentoring and guiding others.
