We’re hiring on behalf of a fast-growing, well-funded travel startup on a mission to transform the travel industry with cutting-edge tech. They’re building intelligent B2B and B2C applications that simplify planning, booking, and managing travel. We're looking for a Backend Engineering Lead to join their India office in Trivandrum (in-person role).
Lead a team of 10–15 backend engineers, offering both strategic direction and hands-on technical contributions.
Build and scale core backend systems, including APIs, asynchronous workers, and automation workflows.
Define and evolve the product architecture from the ground up.
Drive backend performance, scalability, and reliability improvements.
Work closely with DevOps to build and monitor infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, product managers, and other engineers to ship impactful features.
Have 7+ years of Python backend experience, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
Are deeply comfortable building and debugging APIs (REST and GraphQL).
Have experience with database systems — SQL, NoSQL, and optionally graph databases.
Are confident in deploying, monitoring, and scaling production-grade systems.
Know your way around Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native tools.
Have experience with performance profiling and backend optimization.
Experience building AI-powered applications using LLMs, and RAG.
Contributed to Python open-source libraries or tools.
Built or experimented with agentic AI systems.
Experience working in early-stage startups.
Familiarity with GraphQL federation and distributed service design.
