JOIN OLX GENERATIVE AI INNOVATION ENGINEERING TEAM
Note: This role is based in Spain.
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Generative AI Innovation team and help drive AI innovation at OLX.
Our team is at the forefront of GenAI-powered solutions, developing cutting-edge services to enhance user experiences, optimize internal processes, and explore new business opportunities. You’ll work on scalable, high-impact AI projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to research, proofs-of-concept, and production-ready AI applications.

Being an Engineer on our team, you'll collaborate closely with fellow engineers, SREs, the product team, data scientists, and an engineering manager while building one of the company's newest distributed systems. Our systems are built using Python, Kotlin, or Golang and run on AWS.
We value engineers who have:
- Significant professional experience in software development with Python
- Experience in large-scale web applications, an economic-thinking mindset, and the ability to design well-bounded domain systems
- Experience in architecting Cloud Native solutions, AWS is a plus
- Worked in multi-functional teams
- Believes in "you build it, you run it, you own it," ensuring high-quality code, debugging, optimization, and automation as key priorities.
- Experience in building AI/ML-enabled products
What you will be doing:
- Taking part in planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Contributing to complex technical projects, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable software solutions.
- Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. This includes delegating tasks, providing feedback, and facilitating team communication
- Driving innovation by encouraging new ideas, shaping software development, and collaborating closely with product management to create user-centric solutions
- Developing and deploying cloud-native solutions using GitLab CI/CD to AWS, contributing to broader engineering strategy and cross-team collaboration.
- Creating impact outside of your team by helping drive the Engineering strategy and contributing to cross-team collaboration through inter-team working groups or community guilds, among others.

Skills Required
- Significant professional experience in software development with Python
- Experience building AI/ML-enabled products or GenAI solutions
- Experience in large-scale web applications and designing well-bounded domain systems
- Worked in multi-functional teams and following a 'you build it, you run it' responsibility model
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers
- Experience architecting cloud-native solutions
- Experience with AWS (is a plus)
- Familiarity with Kotlin or Golang
- Experience developing and deploying using GitLab CI/CD
