Backend Engineer (d/f/m) - Based in Stuttgart (Germany)

This role sits with Steuerbot, a Stuttgart-based brand within the Taxfix Group. This app guides users through their tax return in a friendly chat format, using clear, personalised questions that make filing simple with no jargon, nor stress. We believe everyone should be able to do their own taxes and get the most out of their refund, regardless of income or background.

As a backend developer, you’ll be part of a shared team between Steuerbot and Taxfix, directly led by the Steuerbot founders. You'll help us develop the unique technology that enables and accelerates the growth of Steuerbot and Taxfix. At the same time, you'll have the opportunity to further expand existing approaches in areas like CI/CD and test automation. Beyond pure development, you'll also have the chance to dive into exciting topics such as machine learning, database optimization, or data engineering. We're happy to give you time to explore new areas and grow your skills!

•  Further developing and maintaining our backend services.

• Actively shaping a scalable, future-ready architecture and infrastructure.

• Collaborating closely with our product and frontend teams to design and implement new features.

• Thinking holistically to provide the best possible usability for our users.

• Being involved from the very beginning in the development of entirely new features or products, making a significant contribution.

•  You have strong knowledge in at least one object-oriented or functional programming language (C, C++, Java, Kotlin, JavaScript/TypeScript, Scala, Python) – ideally with experience in Go.

• You enjoy writing high-performance, maintainable code.

• You have experience designing and implementing complex systems.

• You have expertise in container orchestration with Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or similar tools.

• You're enthusiastic about diving into entirely new topics.

• You want to become a key team member and enjoy working in a small, highly efficient team.

• Fluent in German Language.
