Role Overview
As a Backend Engineer at Ajaib, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, testing, and deploying robust software solutions that impact millions of users. You will collaborate closely with product and business leaders to provide solution guidance, mentor fellow engineers, and contribute to our high-velocity engineering culture.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy resilient software solutions powering high-scale financial platforms.
- Deliver high-performance, low-latency services capable of handling high transaction volumes.
- Build and optimize fault-tolerant distributed systems under rapid growth demands.
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to navigate technical constraints and requirements.
- Share past experiences, maintain elite technical execution discipline, and mentor fellow engineers.
- Deploy to hybrid environments and provide operational technical assistance.
- Use AI with “human in the loop” principle in mind and critical and mindful assessment of the AI solutions
- Learn new technologies and concepts quickly with a genuine curiosity.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on distributed systems or backend architecture.
- Languages & Frameworks: Highly proficient in one or more of the following core programming languages and frameworks: Java, C, Go, or Rust.
- Databases: Solid practical experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including query tuning and optimization. Experience with Redis is a big plus.
- Message Brokers: strong, practical experience building asynchronous processing and system decoupling in a reliable and retriable way. Experience with Kafka, NATS is a strong plus.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Skilled practitioner of deployments onto major cloud players. GCP experience is a strong plus, Kubernetes knowledge is a strong plus.
- Autonomy: Ability to work individually with limited guidance, highly responsible, and self-motivated.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Minimum 4 years of software development experience, preferably in distributed systems or full-stack architecture
- Highly proficient in one or more programming languages, including Java, C, Go, or Python
- Solid knowledge of Kafka, Redis, Cassandra, and MySQL
- Skilled practitioner of deployments onto cloud (AWS, Azure, etc.) and on-premise environments
- Experience with FIX (Financial Information Exchange) protocol
- Able to work individually with limited guidance
