Job Description:
 As a Backend Engineer you will be responsible for developing the backend systems that power our Ecommerce payment gateway (NGenius Online). You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps engineers, to ensure the robustness, scalability, and security of our backend infrastructure. 

Responsibilities:
 

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend services supporting the e-commerce payment gateway.
• Build reliable, scalable, and high-performing backend components.
• Work with MongoDB and MySQL to implement schemas, optimize queries, and maintain data integrity.
• Develop and maintain Java-based microservices using established coding standards and design patterns.
• Support backend service deployment on AWS, OCI or Azure.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and related containerization technologies.
• Apply secure coding practices, encryption, authentication, authorization, and access controls.
• Support vulnerability remediation and system component upgrades.
• Monitor backend performance and investigate system bottlenecks.
• Improve service response times and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot application issues, production defects, and integration failures.
• Collaborate with DevOps, frontend, and other engineering teams.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for services, APIs, and integrations.
• Participate in code reviews and follow engineering quality standards.
• Write maintainable, testable, and reusable code.
• Support junior developers when required.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests.

Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant backend development experience.
• Good knowledge of Java.
• Good knowledge of Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, or Quarkus.
• Practical experience with MongoDB and MySQL.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and common design patterns.
• Familiarity with Keycloak, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect.
• Experience with Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or similar platforms is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of AWS, OCI or Azure.
• Experience with Docker.
• Basic knowledge of Kubernetes and Helm.
• Understanding of application security, encryption, access control, and secure coding practices.
• Experience writing unit tests using JUnit.
• Good knowledge of HTTP, REST, JSON, XML, SOAP, web services, and WSDL.
• Familiarity with Jira, Bitbucket, Swagger/OpenAPI, Maven, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD tools.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and Windows operating systems.
• Familiarity with Kibana, Grafana, or similar monitoring tools.
• Experience in banking, financial services, payment gateways, or e-commerce is an advantage.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an agile and fast-paced environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
