Backend Developer
to join our global IT Team
Scope of the position: In this role you will be responsible for the design and development of backend systems that transform data and AI prototypes into stable and high-performance production solutions.

Your responsibilities:
In this role your main tasks will include:
- Active participation in the Data Board: Analysis and evaluation of the feasibility / scalability of new and existing use cases in close collaboration with data scientists and subject matter experts.
- Development of innovative IT concepts (rough and detailed concepts) for backend solutions, especially for API design and data integration, based on business requirements.
- Agile planning, implementation, and maintenance of backend services and APIs in Google Cloud using Python, C#, and Flask/API frameworks. Ensuring quality and efficiency through continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) and integration with production systems (e.g., Salesforce).
- Management of external developers and technical guidance of junior developers in software development and testing, including creation/tracking of work breakdown structures.
- Development of backend software engineering standards and their enforcement among internal and external developers, especially with regard to cloud-native development and CI/CD.
Your profile
- Education: Bachelor/Master Degree in (business) informatics, mathematics, statistics, physics or comparable (e.g. economics/engineering with a strong quantitative focus) and proven independent experience in software engineering.
- Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in software development and mentoring of junior developers, preferably in industry and/or commerce; project management/teaching experience is advantageous
- Language skills: Excellent written and spoken English skills;
- Technical Skills:
- Excellent programming skills in Python and C#.
- Solid knowledge of building RESTful architectures, e.g., using Flask or similar frameworks.
- Practical experience with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Basic knowledge of statistical methods and experience using analytics and database tools (SQL/BigQuery, etc.).
- Experience developing robust and scalable backend systems.
- Basic JavaScript knowledge is desirable but not mandatory.
- Soft Skills:
- Problem-solving: Strong abilities to figure out solutions and a keen eye for details.
- Communication: Excellent skills in both writing and speaking to explain technical things clearly.
- Attitude: A proactive attitude, meaning you like to take initiative, and a strong desire to learn and grow your career in database administration.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both on your own and as part of a larger team.
