What You'll Do

• Define and own the technical architecture for backend systems.
• Lead the design of distributed backend platforms and microservices, setting standards for reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
• Mentor and elevate engineers, raising the technical bar across the team and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
• Identify and mitigate systemic technical risk before it impacts delivery, proactively surfacing trade-offs.

 What Will Make You a Great Fit

• 10+ years of experience designing and building backend systems, with a proven track record of architecting large-scale, distributed systems in production using Go (Golang), Java, or comparable languages.
• Expertise in distributed systems and API design: microservice architecture, event-driven systems, data consistency models, and failure/resilience patterns at scale.
• Architectural-level experience with public cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), including cost modeling and infrastructure strategy for large-scale systems.
• Strong proficiency with relational databases.
• Excellent communicator, able to align a team of engineers around technical direction and explain that direction clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable being the technical decision-maker. You can hold a strong opinion, defend it with evidence, and change it when the evidence shifts.

Bonus Items

• Passion for gaming and experience architecting backend platforms that power player experiences at scale.
• Experience architecting online service platforms or backend systems for AAA games.
