What is the Backend Engineer role?
We are hiring a Backend Engineer to help design, develop, and implement secure and scalable systems. You will work closely with software developers and DevOps engineers to ensure robust authentication, encryption, and threat mitigation strategies are integrated into the backend infrastructure. Your role involves securing APIs, databases, and services while implementing best practices for secure coding and vulnerability management.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in programming Go/Java/Python and Cybersecurity, be familiar with AWS and will possess the CISSP certification.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work in a team of front-end, back-end and DevOps engineers, responsible for concept-to-production design, development, and deployment of distributed services addressing challenging technical problems that solve real-world issues.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure backend services using Golang/Java/Python.
- Collaborate with distributed teams using Agile practices to deliver high-quality solutions quickly.
- Implement and uphold security best practices, addressing cybersecurity challenges and ensuring compliance with standards.
- Categorize security vulnerabilities leveraging different vendors and technologies and help develop and maintain a process to address those as part of the software development lifecycle.
- Bring a DevSecOps approach into all aspects of software development and look for opportunities to lower development friction to keep up with cybersecurity requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement and contribute to the company’s mission by delivering impactful and efficient technical solutions.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (required).
- Minimum 2+ years experience in software development and cybersecurity.
- Proficiency in Golang/Java/Python (required).
- Familiarity with AWS.
- CISSP certification or similar cybersecurity-centric certifications (preferred).
- Demonstrated expertise in security practices and protocols.
- Ability to showcase Security experience through past projects or roles.
- Proven experience working in a distributed team, using Agile practices to develop and deploy complex services quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to maintain focus and problem-solve through obstacles in a fast-paced environment while providing realistic estimations.
