The Role
Alchemy builds the infrastructure that the largest financial institutions in the world depend on. The Transaction Engine team owns the systems that power gasless transactions that land on-chain reliably, predictably, and at scale.
This role is for a Senior Backend Engineer who wants to shape core transaction infrastructure, influence platform direction, and operate at the intersection of backend systems and on-chain execution.
You’ll define and evolve the systems that handle transaction submission, simulation, tracking, and debugging across chains. Your work will directly affect transaction success rates, developer trust, and platform reliability.
You’ll operate at platform scale, with real usage, real constraints, and real outcomes.
What You'll Do:
- Set technical direction for core transaction and wallet-adjacent backend systems.
- Design and evolve APIs used by external developers and internal product teams.
- Lead architecture decisions around scalability, correctness, and operational resilience.
- Partner with product, infra, and protocol teams to drive multi-quarter initiatives.
- Raise engineering standards through design reviews, mentorship, and technical leadership.
What We're Looking For:
- 7+ years of relevant industry experience
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science
- Senior level backend engineering experience operating large production systems.
- Strong proficiency in Java, TypeScript, and/or Rust.
- Proven track record designing durable, widely-used APIs.
- Strong understanding of smart contract execution:
- Comfort reading ABIs, logs, traces, and transaction receipts
- Ability to reason about on-chain behavior without writing Solidity
- Experience leading complex technical projects across teams.
- Clear ownership mindset and high technical judgment.
- Web3 experience, a plus

More on The Role
Alchemy is committed to offering competitive compensation, including base salary as well as equity. Additionally, Alchemy offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as other benefits such as 401k and unlimited flexible time off.
The base salary range for this position is estimated to be between $200,000 - $220,000 annually. Please note this range reflects base salary only, and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Your salary will be determined by various factors, including relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and other business needs.
