Job Summary
SCOR Digital Solutions is the technology arm of SCOR, one of the world's leading reinsurers. Based in Kuala Lumpur, our team builds digital products that transform how the insurance and reinsurance industry operates.
Our flagship platform, RAS (Risk Automation Solutions), delivers augmented and automated underwriting capabilities as a customer-facing SaaS application, helping insurers make faster, smarter, and more consistent risk decisions at scale.
We are looking for a mid-level back--end developer with 2–5 years of professional experience to join our RAS engineering team. The role is primarily backend-focused, with Ruby on Rails preferred. Candidates without Rails experience are welcome if they can demonstrate competency in other backend stacks with similar MVC frameworks. The engineer will contribute to backend services, technical design, agentic AI workflows, testing, automation, documentation, and production support. The position is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a hybrid work arrangement and a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
ResponsibilitiesKey duties and responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Ruby on Rails or an equivalent MVC framework, leveraging AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery.
Support the planning of technical design and architecture for new features and systems.
Manage the development, orchestration, and maintenance of agentic AI agents within the RAS platform.
Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end product features.
Implement and maintain automated testing, using AI-driven tooling where appropriate while demonstrating the ability to author and debug tests manually.
Conduct code reviews using AI-assisted tooling while applying sound manual judgment on quality, security, and maintainability.
Contribute to database design and optimization.
Automate and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes, incorporating AI agents where viable.
Participate in incident response and production troubleshooting, with the ability to diagnose issues independently without AI assistance.
Maintain technical documentation, using AI to draft and structure content while ensuring accuracy through manual review.
Required experience & competencies
2–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong proficiency in at least one MVC backend framework; Ruby on Rails is preferred.
Solid understanding of RESTful API design and relational databases.
Demonstrated ability to use AI tooling, such as copilots, code generation tools, or agentic tools, to augment development workflows.
Proven manual competency: able to design, code, test, and debug without AI assistance.
Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
Familiarity with AI concepts or agent-based systems.
Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails is preferred.
Frontend experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or similar frameworks is a plus.
Experience building or integrating LLM-based agents or agentic workflows is a plus.
Familiarity with containerization, such as Docker or Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD tooling, or infrastructure-as-code is a plus.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
