About this opportunity:
Every time someone makes a call, streams a video, or connects a device to a mobile network, chances are the signal passes through hardware that was designed and built by people like the ones you could be working alongside this autumn.
At Ericsson in Borås, we develop and quality-assure the MINI-LINK product portfolio - microwave communication products that form the invisible backbone of mobile networks worldwide. You have seen them on rooftops, on housing walls, and on mobile masts. They are the link between the radio access network and the backhaul infrastructure that keeps everything connected.
Our team specialises in microelectronic packaging, supporting research and R&D with advanced prototyping. As a Bachelor's thesis student joining us in Autumn 2026, you will work on a real manufacturing challenge that sits at the core of how modern semiconductors are built and assembled.
What you will do:
Your thesis will focus on substrate surface cleaning - a critical step before two key semiconductor packaging processes: die attach and wire bonding. Both processes require clean, well-defined surfaces to achieve reliable results, and your work will help identify the best methods and cleaning agents to make that happen.
You will:
- Conduct a literature study on cleaning methods for substrate surfaces prior to die attach, wire bonding, and encapsulation
- Design and set up structured experiments using Design of Experiments methodology
- Carry out cleaning tests and verification procedures in the lab
- Analyze and validate results from testing
- Present your findings to Ericsson's R&D and Supply team
You will be supported by a team of microelectronic packaging specialists and on-site technicians throughout the project. All test substrates, components, and cleaning agents are provided by Ericsson.
The skills you bring:
We are looking for students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's programme in one of the following fields:
- Electrical Engineering
- Production Engineering
- Materials Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Or an equivalent programme
Beyond your studies, you bring curiosity, structure, and a willingness to take ownership. You enjoy working where theory meets practice, and you want your thesis to result in something that has a real impact - not just on paper, but in the processes behind products used in mobile networks around the world.
Why join Ericsson? At Ericsson, you'll have an outstanding opportunity. The chance to use your skills and imagination to push the boundaries of what's possible. To build solutions never seen before to some of the world's toughest problems. You'll be challenged, but you won't be alone.
