As part of a globally operating team of experienced UX designers, you will define and design user experiences for laboratory software and applications — with a strong focus on AI-driven and agent-based experiences (AX).
Located at our Waldbronn site near Karlsruhe, the Usability and Design Center (UDC) works with marketing, Software Developers, scientists, and other experts across Agilent sites worldwide.
Tasks:
- Define how agentic capabilities are implemented in applications, translating AI potential into usable, understandable, and trusted product experiences
- Design human–agent interaction models within applications, including: initiation, guidance, feedback, handover, override and failure handling
- Integrate agent behavior into end‑to‑end user workflows, ensuring AI augments user tasks rather than disrupting established UX patterns
- Generate intuitive software navigation, interaction concepts, and UI designs for complex laboratory workflows
- Develop interaction concepts, wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications to support software implementation
- Work in early product definition phases with Product Management, R&D, and AI teams to shape scope, constraints, feasibility of agent-based features
- Translate user needs and system capabilities into clear UX concepts and specifications
- Represent the user perspective in stakeholder discussions and cross-functional teams
- Continuously refine AX and UX together, using usability evidence to balance automation, transparency, trust, productivity
- Collaborate closely with usability engineers to validate concepts and improve solutions
- Support the UX team with development and evolution of UX / AX methods, guidelines, and advance internal capabilities and adoption of AI supported workflows to boost productivity
Requirements :
- Diploma, BA or MA degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors, or similar
- Experience as a UX/UI Designer for software applications (tech: web required , desktop bonus), with solid Figma skills
- Demonstrated ability in interaction design, workflow design, AI assisted prototyping and concept development
- Strong ability to design complex workflows and systems, not just UI
- Experience in:
- AI-driven user experiences
- agent-based systems
- human–AI interaction models
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to align stakeholders
- Strong team player with a proactive and solution-focused mindset
- Ability to deal with complexity and technical environments
- Fluent command of English is required
- Some international travel is required
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in life science, medical, or B2B software environments
- Experience or strong interest in automation solutions
- Experience with design systems and scalable UX frameworks
- Familiarity with agile development processes
- A cross-disciplinary interest in hardware design
