Job Summary

Accountable for management and oversight of Quality reporting, analytics and performance improvement efforts across all quality reporting programs including but not limited to Leapfrog, Vizient, US NEWS, CMS IQR, CMS Care Compare Star Rating, CMS HVBP and their translation for internal management and execution. Accountable for establishing and maintaining analytical and reporting standards across the department and enterprise for quality, patient safety and clinical effectiveness in partnership with Enterprise Analytics. Accountable for coordination and improvement oversight of all internal activities for management, submission and optimization across the quality reporting programs. Accountable for creating the strategic direction for optimization of MHHS performance across these programs, driven by creating robust data analytic packages and performance improvement plans in partnership with Quality leadership team. Partners with senior leadership to help define and manage measures that drive external rankings critical to MHHS success. Position will report to VP, Quality and Safety and closely partner with Quality AVPs, Enterprise Analytics, and Organizational Effectiveness teams.Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Master's degree in a work-related field/discipline (i.e. Healthcare Administration, Economics, Nursing, Public Health, Business) from an accredited college or university required.

Licenses/Certifications:  Lean Six Sigma, Project management and/or Epic certification preferred.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in a complex health system or healthcare consulting, including five (5) years of team management experience in complex environments.

  • Five or more years of experience with deployment of operational reporting and/or business intelligence solutions and one to three years clinical performance improvement in a complex health system.

  • Ability to lead, direct, and facilitate the implementation of large-scale projects (improvement and change efforts) across a complex and multi-disciplinary organization.

  • Experience with systems-thinking, organizational design, and innovation highly desired.

  • Proven skill in managing, mentoring, and coaching a team of direct reports.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Advanced presentation skills.

  • Superb command of business analytical skills (process flows, procedures, data marts, modeling, etc.), statistical principles, database management and design and architecture tools.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Establishes, supports, and optimizes an organizational structure that provides analytics, monitoring and reporting, and performance improvement aligned with Quality department’s goals on quality reporting programs across both inpatient and ambulatory arena.

  • Provides strategic leadership to standardize analytics, reporting and performance improvement capabilities, processes, and resources across the Quality Monitoring and Reporting, Quality Analytics and Quality Performance Improvement functions within Quality department.

  • Collaborates with physician and senior leadership to continuously improve quality and provide meaningful insights and supports effective performance improvement efforts across key KPIs both as system and individual sites.

  • Creates and maintains a framework for continuous analytics, monitoring and improvements related to the value of clinical services based on quality, cost, and appropriateness of the care and service provided to patients from a ranking perspective.

  • Develops internal and external parameters for measuring ranking performance across all measures including but not limited to quality, cost, and patient centered care.

  • Oversees development of predictive analytics capability across quality reporting programs in collaboration with Enterprise Analytics, domain leaders and internal Quality Monitoring and Reporting and Quality Analytics teams.

  • Develops a robust communication pathway across all portfolios to both system and local leadership and supports the Clinical Improvement Committee strategic goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute on deliverables and milestones.

  • Demonstrated fluency in synthesizing complex data and information and its relevant dissemination to multiple stakeholders including executives, physicians and clinicians.

  • Manages departmental human resources related to the direct report team; meets department budget target for labor and non-labor budgets.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
