Chubb Bermuda invites applications for the position of Assistant Vice President, Operations Manager. The successful applicant will report directly to the Vice President, Head of Operations.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for insurance and ceded reinsurance premium registrations into our Genius underwriting database, including but not limited to:
- Team management
- Responsible for ensuring all accounting sub-ledger reports are accurate. Must have an ability to understand accounting implications and how reports impact various financial statement line items
- Ensure standard operating procedures and guidelines are well documented and maintained
- Ensure a strong system of internal controls is maintained
- Execution of month end close process, cut-off and manager review of data/reports
- Monitoring premiums receivable, lead role in resolution of registration issues related to unmatched cash settlements, liaising with Financial Operations Analyst and underwriters.
- Hosting regular meetings with brokers to resolve any outstanding premium obligations.
- Responsible for the allocation of all premium and claim payments.
- Liaise with finance, claims, treasury and reinsurance teams related to operational matters.
- Lead role in reporting to underwriting department heads and finance.
- Liaising with underwriters to ensure registration contract data points are accurately reflected in submission tracking.
- Lead process improvement and reengineering initiatives with recommendations and project management from design phase to user acceptance testing.
- Providing support to underwriting teams as required.
- Oversee on-going maintenance of Genius.
- Co-ordinate work efforts with various department heads in Bermuda and in various offices overseas. Keep management informed on the status of various tasks and projects.
- Delegate effectively to shared resources, supervising performance, review work product and provide feedback and coaching.
- Involvement with internal and external audits including meeting with auditors and handling queries.
- Completion of various ad hoc requests.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team, assign and review work product
- A minimum of ten years similar experience working with a global company with a complex reporting structure and demonstrated experience in performing similar duties to those listed above
- Strong analytical, problem solving and critical-thinking skills
- University degree preferably in accounting
- Completed insurance courses would be an asset
- Experience working with Genius and PeopleSoft applications would be an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products
- Ability to work overtime and meet tight deadlines
- Strong organizational, communication and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and to look for process improvements within a team
