The Opportunity
The AVP, Group Benefits Strategic Insights & Intelligence is responsible for oversight of all customer, market and product insights and competitive/market intelligence collected, developed and delivered to drive the business. Working alongside the customer marketing, product marketing, analytics, and experience design organizations, this AVP will ensure a business value lenses is applied to all insight, intelligence and market research efforts, driving the organization to focus on understanding customer needs, partnering with the CX team to support the development of up-to-date customer journeys, understanding competitive and market dynamics and maintaining insights as a competitive advantage for the Group Benefits business. The AVP will be a key business partner and work closely with critical business partners both in our National Accounts & Regional Business Segments as well as Product functions. The role will also enable go-to market agile pods & product owners to drive business value and ensure the team is clearly aligned to business OKR's.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future

  • Continue to build a strong strategic insights and intelligence capability and skillset as defined by:
  • Ensure Insights team is aligned to business OKR's to clearly drive commercial value
  • Market Research: Deep & Broad Expertise in Research Methods & Analytic Tools & their business application
  • Marketing Excellence: Ability to develop strategies, marketing plans & touch points that drive long-term growth
  • Defining team vision and ways of working to enable agile pods across GBM to drive greatest business value tied to product & market OKR's
  • Competitive & market intelligence: Tracking market & overall competitive trends and providing strategic perspective to guide market action
  • Strong Business Acumen - Ability to develop & support potential business implications
  • Shape and implement the strategic role of research and insights across US Group Benefits business lines, channels, and customers
  • Partner across organization on approach and metrics for measuring, assessing, and determining business performance, customer performance, competitive opportunities, program performance and customer experience
  • Design and commission key research and insight studies across the value chain. Develop innovative methods to extract actionable insight that drives competitive advantage
  • Set Best-in-Class research standards & develop innovative methods to extract actionable insights to address Group Benefits priorities
  • Identify and determine the most qualified research suppliers. Develop strategic partnerships to extract more value for MetLife
  • Be a key leader for the Group Benefits marketing team, increasing strategic thinking, ability to influence business action, collaboration, & teaming
  • Share knowledge through collaboration, partnering, and cascading best practices across the Global Marketing organization


What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • Minimum of 15 years of marketing research and analytics experience
  • Proven insights leader with a strong record of success and increasing responsibility
  • Deep experience in Market Research & Marketing Excellence, and Strong Business Acumen
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in market research and other marketing functions and deep understanding of MetLife businesses and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business issues and models then translate them into metrics and analysis plans
  • Proven track record of triangulating disparate data and turning them into business recommendations and actions
  • Track record of standing up new capabilities and developing MVPs, aligning key stakeholders to progress to scale
  • Demonstrated ability in forming trusted advisor relationships with internal partners or clients, especially in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to influence key senior stakeholders
  • People management experience, including experience building teams across the matrix organization
  • Experience growing talent - coaching team members in capability expansion and customer focus
  • Team player with experience interacting with different functional areas and personality styles
