Job Description:

Main Accountabilities:

This role reports to the Financial Controller, Sun Life Hong Kong and is the key contact for all expense reporting and analysis matters. The incumbent must have the ability to collaborate effectively with leaders within Finance, Regional Office and Corporate business partners and various key stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a proven team leader and practical problem solver with the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Expense Analysis:

  • Designs and improves the expense analysis on trends and results, drafting commentary which enables readers to quickly understand the financial results and drivers.
  • Effectively collaborates with stakeholders in Finance and across Operations and builds key relationships to understand financial and business drivers and impacts.
  • Drive recommendation for changes to improve and meet expense KPI’s, drive initiatives on expense reduction.

Expense Reporting

  • Ensures the accurate, timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual expense processes by effectively planning, monitoring, and problem solving.
  • Exhibit strong leadership presence and communications skills in presenting expense results to various levels of management. This will require thought leadership and entail developing sound operational / strategic and finance practices, efficient processes, and robust control documentation to effectively deliver timely and insightful results. 
  • Leads expense related projects that may include automation of processes, etc.

Expense Study & Budget

  • Drive efficient expense studies across all business functions as part of the business planning process to ensure tracking and analysis of expenses
  • Own expense budget process for Strategic and business plan

Qualifications:

  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA) with 10+ years’ experience in performance, business reporting and financial analysis with at least 5 years’ experience in expense management and financial management leadership roles
  • Strong experience in expense reporting, financial analysis, or related roles within the Insurance or financial services industry. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyze complex financial data.
  • Incorporates technology into the development of solutions that improve programs and practices.
    Uses technology and analytic skills to turn data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to work both individually, and within a team environment, build strong relationships and maintain rapport with cross-functional teams, Internal Control teams and with external consultants.
  • Ability to manage projects, with attention to detail on multiple concurrent tasks, while meeting various deadlines
  • Adaptable, flexible, and self- motivated in a fast paced and frequently changing business environment with a "can do" attitude.
  • Knowledge of SAP GL, Hyperion, SmartView.
  • Advanced technical skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and spoken English
