The Role

Audio Video Design Engineer

Our Audio Video Design Engineer is responsible for designing, specifying, and implementing integrated audio and video systems. This role involves working closely with clients, architects, and contractors to create customized solutions that meet specific requirements. The engineer will be involved in all stages of the project, from initial concept and design to final installation and testing.Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design:

    • Design and develop audio, video, and control systems for commercial, residential, or entertainment applications.
    • Create detailed system drawings and schematics, including signal flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and wiring plans.
    • Specify and select appropriate AV equipment, such as projectors, screens, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, mixers, and video conferencing systems.
    • Integrate various AV components to ensure seamless operation.
  • Project Management:

    • Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints.
    • Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery and within budget.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Conduct site surveys to assess existing infrastructure and determine AV system requirements.
    • Provide technical support and guidance during the installation phase, ensuring that all systems are installed according to design specifications.
    • Test and commission AV systems, ensuring proper functionality and performance.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during installation or post-installation support.
  • Documentation:

    • Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including design drawings, equipment lists, and user manuals.
    • Create as-built documentation and update system schematics as necessary.
  • Client Interaction:

    • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate AV solutions.
    • Provide training and support to end-users, ensuring they are comfortable using the AV systems.
    • Maintain ongoing relationships with clients to provide support and address any future needs or upgrades.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I) are a plus.
  • Experience:

    • 3+ years of experience in audio/video system design and integration.
    • Experience with CAD software and AV design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio).
  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of AV technologies, including audio and video signal flow, control systems, and networking.
    • Proficiency in designing AV systems for various environments, such as conference rooms, auditoriums, theaters, and residential spaces.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.

Work Environment:

  • The role may involve a combination of office-based design work and on-site visits for system installation and commissioning.
  • The engineer may need to work in various environments, including construction sites, commercial buildings, and residential homes.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on the location of the projects.


Salary Range

$70,935.20 - $106,402.80 USD (Salary)

  • Please note that the salary information provided herein is base pay only (gross); it does not include other forms of compensation which may or may not apply to this specific position, namely, performance-based bonuses, benefits-related payments, or other general incentives - none of which are guaranteed, may be subject to specific eligibility requirements, and are wholly within the discretion of Astreya to remit.
  • Further, the salary information noted above is a range that consists of a minimum and maximum rate of pay for this specific position. Where an applicant or employee is placed on this range will depend and be contingent on objective, documented work-related considerations like education, experience, certifications, licenses, preferred qualifications, among other factors.
