Automation QA Engineer

Ciklum is looking for an Automation QA Engineer to join our team full-time in India.

About the role:

As an Automation QA Engineer, become a part of our offshore QA team. This person will work directly under the direction of our QA Lead and contribute to building a high-quality, scalable software delivery practice. The ideal candidate is equally proficient in manual and automated testing, has hands-on experience with Java, Python, and/or .NET applications, and actively leverages AI-powered tools to improve testing speed, coverage, and quality outcomes.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role that requires strong technical skills, excellent written English communication, and the discipline to work effectively in an asynchronous, cross-time-zone environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manual Testing:
  • Design, write, and execute detailed test cases, test plans, and exploratory test scenarios based on requirements, user stories, and technical specifications
  • Perform functional, regression, smoke, integration, and system-level validation testing across Java, Python, and .NET applications
  • Conduct release readiness validation and support quality gate assessments prior to production deployments
  • Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, screenshots, and logs in Jira
  • Participate in early requirements and story review to flag gaps, ambiguities, and testability concerns before development begins
• Automated Testing:
  • Integrate and maintain automated tests within CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines)
  • Analyze test results, triage failures, and clearly distinguish genuine defects from environment issues or test flakiness
  • Follow version control standards (Git) and maintain test code with the same care as production code, including documentation and code reviews
  • Support performance and load test execution using tools such as JMeter or k6
  • This is a hands-on, execution-focused role that requires strong technical skills, excellent written English communication, and the discipline to work effectively in an asynchronous, cross-time-zone environment

Requirements: 

• 6+ years of experience into Develop, maintain, and extend automated test suites for UI, API, and regression coverage using frameworks appropriate to Java, Python, and .NET stacks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Pytest, NUnit, RestAssured, Postman/Newman)
• Provide daily written status updates via agreed channels (Slack, Teams, or Jira) before end of your business day - no exceptions
• Raise blockers immediately; do not hold them for the next standup
• All test cases, results, and defect reports must be documented in the agreed tools on the same day work is performed
• Minimum 2-4 hours of overlap with the onshore DTI team (US Central Time) required daily
• Expected to ask clarifying questions early rather than making assumptions - quality of questions matters
• Must be able to demo test results and walk through defects live on video calls
