With a dedicated team of over 100,000 employees across 130 countries, we go all the way to connect and simplify global trade and help our customers grow and thrive. Maersk’s vision is to be the global integrator of logistics, connecting and simplifying customers’ supply chains.

The Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-grade automation solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate (Cloud & Desktop), Power Apps, and Dataverse. This role is central to Maersk's Automation Center of Excellence (CoE), contributing directly to the organization's Intelligent Automation strategy by delivering scalable, zero-touch process automations that drive operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and create measurable business value.

The successful candidate will play a key role in automating complex business processes across multiple domains, deploying unattended automation solutions at scale, and ensuring governance and licensing compliance across the Power Platform ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities1. Automation Development & Delivery
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy end-to-end automation solutions using Power Automate Cloud Flows and Power Automate Desktop (PAD) for both API-based and UI-based process automation.
  • Build and maintain Canvas and Model-Driven Power Apps to digitize manual processes, enhance user experience, and support operational workflows.
  • Develop and manage data models, tables, and relationships within Microsoft Dataverse to ensure a robust and scalable data foundation for automation solutions.
  • Automate complex business processes involving multiple systems (e.g., SAP, ServiceNow, SharePoint, Excel, legacy applications) using a combination of cloud flows, desktop flows, and custom connectors.
2. Unattended Automation Deployment & Operations
  • Design and deploy complex automations in unattended mode using Power Automate Process licenses and hosted/on-premises machine configurations.
  • Configure and manage machine groups, bot orchestration, queue management, and scheduling for unattended RPA execution at enterprise scale.
  • Implement robust error handling, retry logic, exception management, and self-healing mechanisms to ensure high automation availability (99.5%+).
  • Monitor bot health and performance through dashboards and proactive alerting mechanisms.
3. Intelligent Automation & AI Integration
  • Explore and integrate AI Builder, Copilot Studio, and Azure Cognitive Services into automation workflows for intelligent document processing, classification, sentiment analysis, and decision support.
  • Develop AI-assisted automation prototypes leveraging Generative AI and Agentic AI capabilities within the Power Platform ecosystem.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to move from rule-based RPA to intelligent automation by incorporating AI/ML capabilities.
4. Power Platform Governance, Licensing & Administration
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of Power Platform licensing models — including Power Automate Premium (per user), Power Automate Process (per bot/unattended), Hosted Process, and AI Builder credits.
  • Support license allocation, usage monitoring, and optimization to ensure cost-efficient utilization of Power Platform licenses.
  • Adhere to Maersk's Power Platform Governance Framework — including DLP policies, environment management, connector policies, security reviews, and ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) best practices.
  • Manage solution deployment across Dev, Test, and Production environments following structured change management processes.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders across logistics, finance, HR, IT, and supply chain teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable automation solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation including Process Design Documents (PDD), Solution Design Documents (SDD), test plans, and deployment guides.
  • Provide training and knowledge sharing sessions to business users and citizen developers on Power Platform capabilities.
  • Participate in the Automation Community of Practice (CoP) and contribute to reusable frameworks and components.
What we are looking for?Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4–7 years of hands-on experience in automation development, with strong focus on Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Proven track record of delivering production-grade automation solutions using Power Automate (Cloud & Desktop) and Power Apps.
  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments (logistics, supply chain, or similar industries preferred).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
  • Microsoft certifications such as PL-100 (Power Platform App Maker), PL-200 (Power Platform Functional Consultant), PL-500 (Power Automate RPA Developer).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps / Power Platform CLI for ALM and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of SQL, JavaScript, JSON, and C# for extending Power Platform capabilities.
  • Exposure to Process Mining and Task Mining for identifying automation opportunities.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, or similar ITSM tools for incident and change management.

In this role, the colleague will gain experience in:

  • Enterprise-grade automation architecture and design patterns within a global logistics organization.
  • Advanced AI/ML integration with the Power Platform ecosystem.
  • Power Platform governance, administration, and licensing at scale.
  • Cross-portfolio collaboration across Automation, Power BI, and Data Engineering teams.
