Job Description

Flex intends to Spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Automation Engineer located in Chennai location.

Automation & Reporting Engineer with good experience in Python, VBA, SQL, RPA, Power Automate, Power Apps, Tableau, Power BI, MIS Reporting, and Microsoft Office automation.

The role focuses on developing automation solutions, business applications, reports, dashboards, API integrations, and AI-enabled workflows to improve operational efficiency and modernize business processes..

Reports to the Senior Manager, and the role involves,

What a typical day looks like:

  • Gather business requirements and develop automation solutions using VBA, RPA, SQL, and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Develop, test, deploy, and maintain automation applications and reporting solutions.

  • Create and maintain SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.

  • Prepare and distribute reports, dashboards, and business analyses.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and process improvements.

  • Support API integrations and AI-assisted automation initiatives.

  • Monitor automation performance and resolve issues through root cause analysis.

  • Document solutions, SOPs, and technical processes.

  • Provide guidance and training to team members when needed.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of automation, reporting, API, and AI solutions.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in engineering or equivalent degree.

  • 3-5 years of experience as an Automation engineer.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel / VBA, and Microsoft Office automation.

  • Hands-on experience with RPA / Power Automate for workflow automation and business process optimization.

  • Experience in developing Power Apps solutions, forms, and low-code business applications.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL for database querying, data extraction, transformation, and reporting.

  • Strong knowledge of Python programming, including automation scripting, data processing, API integration, reporting, and application development.

  • Experience in MIS reporting, dashboard creation, and data visualization.

  • Hands-on experience with Tableau and Power BI for analytics, dashboard development, and business intelligence reporting.

  • Experience integrating REST APIs, JSON/XML payloads, authentication, and web services.

  • Knowledge of.NET, SharePoint, and web-based applications is preferred.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted automation, OpenAI APIs, Cloud Copilots, and Large Language Models (LLMs).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Day shift and flexible to work in Night shift if needed.

Preferred Skills (Good to have)

  • Experience with MS office Automation / Business process automation, Python automation, REST APIs, JSON/XML, authentication, and integration testing.

  • Exposure to AI-enabled solutions, cloud copilots, and OpenAI APIs.

  • Experience in manufacturing or BPO environments is an advantage.
