The position reports to the Director of US Molecular Biology R&D at the Piscataway site of the GenScript Gene R&D department.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new automation workflows to meet the high throughput biomanufacturing needs.
- Maintain and upgrade existing automation methods.
- Provide hands-on support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for individual lab instruments and larger integrated automation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, software, and system integration issues to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational continuity.
- Manage project timeline and leverage internal resources to push project forward.
- Closely communicate with other teams to ensure the smooth tech transfer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and other related fields.
- 1+ year of relevant experience of automation development in biomanufacturing environment.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation and automation systems.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Experience troubleshooting liquid handling instruments such as Tecan Fluent, Hamilton STAR.
- Extensive experience in writing scripts/protocols for Tecan, Hamilton, Thermo Momentum Scheduler.
- Experience with molecular biology experiments is a plus not a must.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of equipment communication, networking, TCP/IP, serial communication, or automation software is a plus.
- Basic programming or scripting experience is a plus.
- Experience in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.

Compensation:
Salary range: $70,000 – $90,000, depending on experience and qualification
