Reporting to the Team Lead, Application and Cloud Services, the Automation Analyst is responsible for planning, designing, coding, testing and implementing integrated automation solutions within the enterprise server environment. The Automation Analyst role ensures that our Business Technology Services (BTS) division meets its service commitments to the organization. Key responsibilities include analyzing operational issues, providing appropriate resolutions, and offering expert technical input to senior positions to aid in tactical and strategic decision-making, supporting the divisions commitments to the organization.

Your responsibilities:

  • Installs new or upgraded automation software including installation of individual server agents.
  • Reviews and resolves problems escalated from Data Centre Management Operators or escalates to areas with appropriate technical expertise.
  • Provides training and mentoring to other Analysts and Service providers.
  • Identifies and resolves automation issues in consultation with his teammates.
  • Analyzes service disruptions and implements appropriate automation solutions to avoid a reoccurrence or to minimize the impact of the problem.
  • Provides technical assistance to internal BTS areas and Service Providers to develop and implement automation solutions for WCB projects.
  • Remain up to date on industry trends and technology and initiates process changes to implement best practices.
  • Ability to apply creative solutions to resolve new and unforeseen challenges, as nature of problems resolved by the automation analyst reflect a complex knowledge of both business and technical processes. 
  • A senior technical role who operates autonomously and resolves problems and issues independently.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.  You may be contacted outside of business hours for emergency response.

Your experience and skills:

  • A degree or diploma in Business or Computer Science.
  • Possession or pursuit of Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineer Expert is highly recommended.
  • Experience with working on the Microsoft Azure DevOps Services and familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
  • Proficient in automating manual, repeatable processes in the enterprise server environment using BMC’s enterprise class automation products. It’s expected to become proficient with the products, a minimum of three years’ full-time experience is required.
  • Minimum five years’ experience working with Windows, Linux, and automation tools is required.
  • Ability to quickly acquire new technical skills, such as system programming languages and become proficient in the use of enterprise class automation and scheduling products.
  • Strong communications skills and the demonstrated ability to coach and mentor other technical staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure and compose a calm demeanor.
  • Must be in possession or pursuit of ITIL certification.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary: $83,185 to $97,826 (Pay Grade 11)
