JOB OVERVIEW
As an AU Intermediate Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining key accounting records. Day-to-day activities include recording transactions such as income and outgoings and posting them to various accounts. Having a broad and varied role, you will need a strong sense of time management and organisational skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Xero account coding & bank reconciliation
- Prepayments/Accruals/Fixed asset coding
- Client invoicing
- Debtor chasing of overdue invoices
- Supplier invoices
- Twice monthly supplier / expense payment run
- BAS / IAS / Payroll Tax returns
- Monthly Payroll - adding new staff, bonuses, benefits, etc.
- End-of-year payroll reporting
- End of tax year (30 June) reconciliations / returns for BAS / PAYE
- Worker Compensation estimates and actuals declarations
- Monitoring of revenue, staff numbers, etc. as the company is growing the statutory reporting and compliance requirements
- Management accounts pack from Xero each month
- Forecasting / cash flow
- Tax return in liaison with external tax accountant/s
- Pro-actively raise potential risks for clients and the business based on data and observations from checks performed and provide recommendations to mitigate impacts
- Any task deemed necessary by the Team Manager or Service Delivery Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Should be a graduate of Finance and or Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) OR Chartered Accountant (CA) is preferred
Product Knowledge
- Complete knowledge of client accounts and businesses
- General AU Accounting experience with solid background
- At least 3-5 years and above experience in Australian bookkeeping and accounting
- Knowledge with Australian Taxation and Compliance is advantageous
- Knowledge with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiar with accounting tools such as Xero, Hubdoc, and Karbon
- Ability to learn new systems and tools as needed
- Ensures quality of work being delivered without being supervised
- Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Good oral and written communication skills
