Hours of Work
The primary schedule for the incumbent is Sunday to Thursday, from 10:30 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. However, you may be required to work additional hours as needed to cover multiple shifts or attend meetings.
How You Will Help the Team
The Instructional Specialist – CNC & Additive Manufacturing role supports instructional continuity, curriculum accuracy, and student success across ATDM’s advanced manufacturing programs. This position blends hands on technical support, student tutoring, and instructional coverage with Canvas LMS ownership and curriculum management responsibilities.
The Instructional Specialist is primarily focused on CNC Machining and Additive Manufacturing, with strong secondary support in Metrology. This role plays a key part in ensuring instructional consistency across shifts, maintaining high standards in labs and learning systems, and ensuring students and instructors are fully supported during normal operations and instructor outages.

- Instructional Coverage
- Provide short-term instructional coverage in CNC, Additive Manufacturing, and Metrology. Deliver established lesson plans, demonstrations, and lab rotations. Provide deeper support in areas of expertise during extended coverage needs. Support Welding and NDT instruction as required to maintain continuity and student progress.
- Student Tutoring and Success
- Deliver scheduled tutoring aligned with program needs and the academic calendar, focusing on CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, and Metrology. Provide targeted coaching in technical math, blueprint reading, GD&T, inspection, and process documentation. Support test preparation, remediation, and credential readiness. Collaborate with instructors on student progress and interventions. Track tutoring sessions, topics, and outcomes.
- Technical Specialist Support
- Collaborate with Technical Specialists to execute assigned projects. Provide regular updates on Canvas-based CNC and Additive Manufacturing curriculum. Track outcomes and identify trends, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
- Classroom, Lab Standards, and Safety
- Maintain 5S standards, lab readiness, and safety compliance. Support safety briefings and emergency procedures. Ensure PPE availability and adherence to safety requirements.
- Academic Administration and Collaboration
- Support test administration, credential tracking, and student records. Assist with LMS access, instructional materials, and student system setup. Serve as LMS Manager for assigned programs by maintaining and updating Canvas courses in partnership with Technical Specialists and the LMS Administrator. Ensure proper course setup, student onboarding, and system functionality. Support instructional staff with LMS processes and updates. Assist with tours, stakeholder engagement, and special projects to enhance lab operations and the overall student experience.

Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related technical field strongly preferred
• Minimum of 2–4 years of hands-on experience in CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, or a closely related advanced manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Metrology principles and measurement systems
• Strong proficiency in technical math, blueprint reading, and GD&T application
• Proven ability to operate effectively in hands-on manufacturing lab or shop environments
• Experience using Microsoft Office and instructional technologies; working knowledge of Canvas or similar LMS platforms preferred
• Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to instruct, mentor, or tutor adult learners
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform work in a physically active lab setting
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and student populations
Preferred Qualifications
• 3–5 years of experience in CNC machining and precision manufacturing, including exposure to NIMS standards, Haas mills/lathes, CAD/CAM systems, multi-axis machining, and CMM equipment
• Hands-on experience in additive manufacturing using polymer and/or metal systems, including slicing software, build preparation, and post-processing techniques
• Applied experience in metrology, including GD&T interpretation, dimensional inspection, and use of precision measurement tools
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience with measuring tool calibration, inspection processes, or CMM programming
• Prior experience supporting LMS platforms, curriculum development, or technical training program delivery
