THE OPPORTUNITY
As part of our diverse team, you will play a key role in supporting the sustainability and growth of EML’s National Self Insurance (NSI) portfolio. You will help strengthen regulatory compliance, assurance and technical capability while supporting consistent, high-quality claims management outcomes.
As the Assurance and Technical Lead, you will lead our assurance program, provide specialist technical guidance and partner with operational leaders, clients and key stakeholders to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
You will also lead and develop a team of assurance and technical professionals, building capability through coaching, mentoring and guidance.
This is a permanent, full-time position that can be based from any of our EML offices in Parramatta, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne or Perth, with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the annual NSI assurance program, including the preparation and execution of internal and external audits across multiple clients and jurisdictions.
- Communicate audit outcomes, identify emerging risks and work with Operations to develop practical remedial actions and strengthen assurance and compliance frameworks.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory and audit requirements, supporting the implementation of legislative reforms and providing technical guidance on complex claims and compliance matters.
- Monitor client service levels, contractual KPIs and assurance outcomes to identify trends and opportunities to strengthen operational performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with NSI leadership, self-insured clients, external auditors and regulator representatives to support effective outcomes.
- Lead a team of assurance and technical professionals, providing coaching, mentoring and targeted technical training to build capability, while contributing to strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
ABOUT YOU
- Strong experience in the Workers Compensation industry (5+ years), encompassing claims and supporting functions. Multi-jurisdictional experience is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in Risk, Audit, Quality Assurance or a similar role ideally within workers compensation, insurance or self-insurance environment.
- Strong understanding of workers compensation legislation, regulatory requirements and audit frameworks, with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical solutions.
- Proven ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders including employers, brokers, clients and regulators.
- Experience coaching and mentoring Case Managers and Specialists, including identifying capability gaps and contributing to training and development.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, influencing and communication skills with sound judgement and demonstrated ability to lead teams and achieve business outcomes.
