Job SummaryThe Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, planning, execution, and oversight of mechanical systems in large-scale solar power projects. This role includes leading engineering activities related to mounting structures, module layout, trackers, and balance of system (BoS) components, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with technical, quality, and safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and review the mechanical design of utility-scale solar PV systems including module mounting structures (fixed tilt and trackers), foundations, and cable trenches.
Conduct site assessments and provide technical inputs for project planning and feasibility studies.
Evaluate and approve mechanical drawings, specifications, and BOQs from design teams and contractors.
Oversee the installation and commissioning of mechanical components at project sites.
Coordinate with structural consultants, civil, and electrical engineering teams to ensure design compatibility.
Conduct quality inspections of mechanical materials (structures, fasteners, etc.) as per project standards.
Support procurement by reviewing vendor offers, participating in technical bid evaluations (TBE), and ensuring adherence to project requirements.
Optimize structure design and layout to minimize costs and improve performance.
Monitor mechanical construction activities to ensure adherence to project timelines and safety norms.
Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and client meetings.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
At least 3–5 years in the solar industry.
Experience in utility-scale solar PV projects is a must.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, STAAD Pro (optional), and MS Office.
Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred SkillsExperience with solar tracker systems (single-axis or dual-axis).
Exposure to wind load and structural analysis for solar structures.
Familiarity with PPA, EPC contracts, and tender documentation.
Ability to manage teams and mentor junior engineers.
