Indera is looking for an Assistant Director of Employment Services

QualificationsPosition Responsibilities:
- Provide day to day operations and supervision for Employment services (including ACCES-VR, OPWDD
- Supported Employment, Pathway, Community Based Prevocational Services).
- Manages the Acces-VR AWARE system.
- Ensure the development of person centered supports in accordance with individual preferences and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that the quality of services being provided meet agency expectations.
- Provide ongoing consultation and support to Employment staff regarding employment concerns and issues relative to individuals or to program operations as requested.
- Oversee the development of business relationships with employers in Onondaga and surrounding Counties; as necessary act as liaison between Indera and community employment interests; monitor customer satisfaction for employers.
- Make recommendations to the Director of Employment for employment, promotion, scheduling, salary, transfer and/or termination of assigned employees; complete required evaluations for all assigned staff with input from other management staff as appropriate; ensure compliance with all policies and procedures for payroll for assigned staff.
- Act as consumer advocate promoting the concepts of individualization, inclusion, integration and independence facilitating the individual’s progress and satisfaction; report on the progress of individuals toward objectives identified in Habilitation and Service plans.
- Implement program changes recommended by Division of Quality Assurance through OPWDD and ACCES-VR Monitoring Unit.
- Ensure that program staff develops and implements program services that address the needs of individuals and families; utilize general public access community events and activities as much as possible to provide individualization, integration, and inclusion on an ongoing basis.
- Establish communication channels and relationships with all parties involved in service planning, particularly the individual and family.
- Participate as an active member on all scheduled Agency management planning teams or committees as assigned; provide feedback and assist in developing workable solutions to specific events, issues or concerns as they arise relative to overall Agency policies, procedures, guiding principles or mission; participate on work groups or committees established to address specific operational concerns as assigned.
- Contributes to the Director of Employment Services monthly board reports relating to Employment services.
- Oversee the safe storage of confidential documents throughout the department.
- Respond to emergencies as they arise among Employment Services.
- Implement disciplinary actions as needed after consultation with the Director of Employment Services.
- Review roster of individuals across the programs quarterly and update as needed.
- Work effectively with Quality Improvement Management.
- Ensure the management of documentation: including staff action plans and monthly summaries are uploaded in eVero in a timely manner.
- Provide direct support services as required by agency.
- Provide personal care assistance as needed to ensure the individual’s safety, health and hygiene.

Qualifications:
- Education requirements vary based on program requirements. Experience in education, human services or vocational rehab with 2 years’ experience supporting students with disabilities is desired. However educational requirements may be substituted for specific types of experience writing assessments and or working with individuals with disabilities between the ages of 14-21.
- Three years of Supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with OPWDD and ACCES-VR requirements and oversight of intellectual / disability services required.
- Ability to travel to various locations, including community employers and family homes.
- Knowledge of computer systems and usage
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera’s technology policy

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is generally performed in a private office setting with some hours in a variety of community settings (where there is exposure to a variety of venues based on the event type and seasonal weather conditions); there is occasional exposure to varying home environments when at family meetings and some home environments include contact with other children and pets; exposure to seasonal weather also occurs during travel to meetings, conferences and trainings required for the position.

The Assistant Director of Employment Services position will perform in a manner that promotes cooperation with others by consistently demonstrating a positive attitude, remaining open and adaptable to change, by following through on all requests, and by focusing on productivity.
Work location: Syracuse - Onondaga County
Hours and days: Monday-Friday 8:00am -4:00pm
Compensation: $26.00 -$29.00 per hour
Non -Exempt
40 hours per week, including one-hour paid lunch
Skills Required
- Three years of supervisory experience
- Experience in education, human services or vocational rehabilitation with 2 years supporting students with disabilities
- Familiarity with OPWDD and ACCES-VR requirements and oversight of intellectual/developmental disability services
- Experience managing the ACCES-VR AWARE system
- Knowledge of eVero documentation processes and general computer systems usage
- Ability to travel to community employers, family homes, and various locations
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps and follow agency technology policy
- Effective oral and written communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide personal care assistance and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
