What You'll Do
In this role, you will work as a member of the Research Sciences (RS) department, primarily supporting the Custom Solutions and Services (CSS) team within the Client Solutions organization. This team provides customized real-world data and real-world evidence solutions to address the most important research questions across clinical development, market access, and commercial use cases for our life sciences partners.
As part of CSS, you will:
- Accurately translate analytic specifications from a statistical analysis plan into R code to create analytic datasets, generate descriptive and inferential statistics, and visualizations, etc, in consultation with the more senior programmers and/or study principal investigator
- Build subject matter expertise and discuss capabilities of a variety of different Flatiron data modalities, including EHR-derived real-world data, clinico-genomics data, and claims data
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders across our medical and scientific organization to execute and deliver on client-sponsored research studies in an accurate, effective, and timely manner
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Flatiron's proprietary analytical tooling and templates
- Continue to develop a deeper understanding of real-world data and related methodologies used to generate real-world evidence
Who You Are
You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver. In addition, you're an analytical thinker and excellent communicator with experience or interest in analyzing real-world data (e.g., healthcare claims or electronic health records). You are excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day.
- You hold a Doctorate degree (e.g., PhD, ScD, DrPH) in Biostatistics/Statistics with no industry experience, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Public Health, Math, or a closely related field, or a Master's degree and 2 - 3 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in one of these fields with 4 - 5 years of relevant experience
- You are an excellent programmer in R (including tidyverse) and are comfortable working in Git-based environments (e.g., Github, Gitlab)
- You have experience with large healthcare-related datasets (e.g., administrative claims, electronic medical records)
- You have strong organizational, time-management, prioritization and decision-making skills necessary to evaluate, plan and implement multiple high-visibility projects in a timely fashion
- You have the ability to work effectively in a constantly changing, diverse, and matrix environment
- You are able to quickly learn and apply new information, skills and procedures
- You are passionate about our mission to improve healthcare through technology
Extra credit
- You have experience working with oncology datasets
- You have experience working in a pharmaceutical/HEOR consulting environment

Preferred Primary Location: Durham office
The annual pay range reflected above for this position is based on the preferred primary location of the role which is listed in the job description. Salary ranges for other locations vary from the range reflected above. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus and equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
