As an Associate Software Engineer at Moderna, you will play a pivotal role in building frameworks and tooling that empower our growing community of application developers—our Builders. You'll engage closely with web application developers to understand platform-wide needs and then help design, deploy, and evolve the next generation of internal software applications that drive Moderna’s digital capabilities. The successful candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and motivated by creating long-term value. This is a high-impact role that blends technical depth with collaboration across functions, and offers a chance to work at the frontier of digital transformation in biotech. It is based in Warsaw and will directly contribute to enabling our software development ecosystem, including CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and scalable application design.

Here’s What You’ll Do

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Design, develop, and deploy full-stack TypeScript web applications using modern frameworks and cloud-native infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with application developers to identify pain points and create reusable solutions that scale across teams.

  • Ensure modularity and maintainability of code, emphasizing clarity and long-term usability.

  • Drive new features from concept to deployment, ensuring seamless integration with existing tools and systems.

  • Deliver and maintain robust test frameworks to support development agility and quality.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Optimize developer experience through enhanced tooling and frameworks that accelerate application delivery.

  • Write clear and concise documentation to empower internal teams using platform tools.

  • Leverage AWS to deliver scalable and secure software systems in a fast-moving environment.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts, including CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure evolution.

  • Stay current with advancements in software engineering and contribute learnings back to the team and broader community.

  • Participate in multiple concurrent projects in an agile, collaborative, and fast-paced setting.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):

  • 2+ years of experience in modern full-stack web application development.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frameworks (preferably Angular and Node.js).

  • Experience with AWS or another cloud provider for deploying and managing applications.

  • Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.

  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.

  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL (preferably PostgreSQL).

  • Ability to work in an agile environment, collaborating with teams across disciplines.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience in creating Node.js web applications using NestJS.

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless architectures.

  • Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Jest and Cypress.

  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
