OMERS Private Capital builds a globally diversified private equity portfolio across direct investments, growth and venture investments, co-investments, secondaries, and commitments to private equity funds across geographies and market segments. As these strategies continue to scale, there is a growing need to strengthen the data, analytics, AI, and technology capabilities that support the full investment lifecycle — from sourcing and due diligence through portfolio management, reporting, and capital planning.

Technology enablement is a strategic priority for Private Capital. We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile Associate or Senior Associate to help build the internal investment platforms, data foundations, and AI-enabled workflows that support investment decision-making and improve how the team operates.

The successful candidate will work across investment and technology stakeholders to identify business priorities, design practical solutions, and build tools that improve productivity, strengthen decision-making, and support the continued scalability of the Private Capital platform. The role requires a well-rounded technology skillset across full-stack development, data engineering, system design, analytics, cloud delivery, and Generative AI, combined with strong business judgment and a product mindset.

As a member of the Private Capital team, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Drive technology-enabled improvements across the Private Capital investment lifecycle, including sourcing, due diligence, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, reporting, and capital planning across funds, co-investments, growth, and venture strategies.
  • Build investment platforms, workflow tools, and analytical applications that improve productivity, strengthen decision-making, and help investment professionals manage information more effectively.
  • Transform structured and unstructured investment data into actionable insights by integrating internal systems, third-party data, CRM activity, portfolio information and documents into trusted analytical foundations.
  • Apply AI and automation to core investment workflows, including document extraction, knowledge retrieval, memo generation, portfolio monitoring, insight generation, and LLM-powered interfaces connected to internal systems.
  • Work directly with investment teams to identify business priorities, define use cases, and deliver practical solutions that balance speed, scalability, governance, and long-term platform value.

You bring the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, finance, data science, or a related field.
  • Strong full-stack development experience, including building user-facing applications, workflow tools, dashboards, APIs, or internal platforms.
  • Strong data engineering and analytics experience, including data pipelines, data modeling, system integration, data quality, and reusable analytical datasets.
  • Strong architecture and system design skills, with the ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable platforms that integrate data, applications, AI capabilities, and business workflows.
  • Experience working across data, cloud, analytics, and AI platforms, with exposure to tools such as Power BI, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, Claude, OpenAI, Gemini or similar platforms.
  • Experience developing or implementing Generative AI-enabled solutions, including LLM-powered applications, document extraction, knowledge retrieval, workflow automation, AI-assisted development, or agentic interfaces.
  • Strong modern software and cloud delivery practices, including AI-assisted development using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms; CI/CD pipelines; version control; automated testing; and secure deployment of applications, data pipelines, and AI-enabled solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Product mindset, with the ability to identify business user pain points, prioritize high-value use cases, and deliver practical technology solutions that improve productivity, decision-making, and workflow scalability.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner effectively with business users, investment professionals, and enterprise technology teams.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and comfort working with sensitive investment information in a front-office environment.

Considered an asset:

  • Experience within private capital, institutional investing, asset management, financial services, or another data-intensive business environment.
  • Understanding of private equity structures and workflows, including fund commitments, co-investments, secondaries, direct investments, growth or venture investment models, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, and investment reporting.
  • Experience working with investment-specific platforms such as Affinity CRM, DealCloud, portfolio monitoring tools, fund reporting platforms, or investment data providers.

OMERS Compensation & Benefits Highlights

The following summarizes recurring compensation and benefits themes identified from responses generated by popular LLMs to common candidate questions about OMERS and has not been reviewed or approved by OMERS.

  • Retirement Support Retirement benefits are positioned as a standout part of total rewards, anchored by a defined benefit pension that provides predictable lifetime income and includes survivor, disability, bridge, and inflation-protection features. The plan is often treated as materially more valuable than typical RRSP matching, despite requiring employee contributions.
  • Fair & Transparent Compensation Compensation is frequently characterized as fair or well-paid in certain roles, and the overall package is sometimes framed as “excellent compensation” when pay and benefits are considered together. Pay competitiveness appears strongest in investment-focused groups and in higher-cost markets.
  • Wellbeing & Lifestyle Benefits Non-pension benefits are described as strong in areas like wellness and mental health support, alongside lifestyle allowances and paid-time-off features. These elements add perceived value beyond base salary and bonus.
