Job DescriptionThe Discovery Neuroscience In Vivo Pharmacology group in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated scientist to join a dynamic team supporting target validation and performing PK/PD studies. The ideal candidate has experience in independently running complex studies and in coordinating efforts between team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design and implementation of in vivo testing of multispecific biologics, small molecules, and siRNAs to support projects in the areas of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease
- Identify and solve technical problems independently, implement new assays and workflows
- Ensure consistency and quality of technical reports
- Collaborate with colleagues at various AbbVie sites
- Present original work internally across departments and at internal and external scientific conferences; may author or co-author peer-reviewed scientific papers or patents
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Scientist II Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, with typically 3 or more years’ experience OR Master’s Degree (no additional experience)
- Scientist I Qualifications: BSc or MS in Neuroscience, Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, or related discipline with typically 5+ (BSc), or 3+ (MS) years of experience in industry and/or academia
- Proven track record of working in multidisciplinary in vivo pharmacology teams
- Experience with in vivo models of neurodegeneration, particularly with models of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease
- Proven track record in characterizing complex biotherapeutics in vivo (biologics, small molecules, siRNA)
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment
- Candidate must be a goal-oriented team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong “can-do” attitude
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in receptor and / or transporter biology
- Background in brain barriers biology
- Prior team membership in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry
- Experience with ex vivo readouts including immunohistochemistry and biochemistry (ELISA, WB)
- Experience with image analysis
