This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with 0-2 years of IT or technical experience to join Rapid7 as one of the first hires in our newly forming Sales Engineering Centre of Excellence.
As an Associate Sales Engineer, you'll partner with our Sales and Business Development teams to support initial sales opportunities, engage with new and existing customers, and build your technical product knowledge and communication skills to confidently articulate the value of Rapid7's security solutions. With hands-on experience, training and support from experienced colleagues, you'll build the foundations to progress into a Sales Engineer career as the team grows.
About the Team
Our Sales Engineering team partners closely with Account Executives in a pre-sales role to develop and position solutions involving Rapid7's security platform. The team directly impacts the business by accelerating the sales cycle and ensuring customers understand how our solutions meet their security and technical needs.
About the Role
As an Associate Sales Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to build foundational expertise in Rapid7's platform and value proposition while supporting early-stage sales activities and technical enablement. Specifically, your focus will be to:
  • Work directly with prospects and customers to demonstrate and communicate the value of Rapid7's platform throughout the sales cycle, from demo, proof of concept, design and implementation.
  • Support sales opportunities during the early stages to ensure initial technical questions are addressed promptly and accurately.
  • Support product demonstrations to prospects, developing the ability to explain key platform features and how they address customer needs
  • Support the RFI/RFP process by helping prepare responses to standard product questions and gathering relevant technical documentation, with guidance from the wider team
  • Develop technical content, including product demonstration videos and foundational solution briefs.
  • Provide technical support and foundational product knowledge to the Sales Development Representative (SDR) teams.
  • Assist the Inbound Chat Agent on the Rapid7 website by addressing technical queries and guiding visitors to appropriate resources.

The skills and qualities you'll bring include:
  • 0-2 years of IT or technical experience, or an equivalent educational foundation in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding of networking concepts, including network topology, TCP/IP, network configuration and common components such as firewalls and routers.
  • Strong sense of accountability for driving outcomes and meeting commitments that deliver value.
  • Build partnerships across teams, collaborating with sales, SDRs and Sales Engineering peers to align on customer goals.
  • A passion for learning new skills and technologies, actively seeking feedback and continuously expanding technical knowledge to adapt to evolving customer needs
  • A proactive and enthusiastic mindset, with the drive to develop your technical knowledge, build new skills and share ideas with the wider team.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, and an eagerness to develop your product demonstration skills.
  • Flexible and open to change, with the ability to learn, adapt and thrive in a newly forming global team where responsibilities, processes and ways of working will evolve as the Centre of Excellence develops
  • Embody our core values to foster a culture of excellence that drives meaningful impact and collective success.
  • Additional European language skills would be highly advantageous
