The Opportunity That Awaits You: 

As PROCEPT BioRobotics continues to expand, the R&D group requires an Associate R&D Engineer to support the development and integration of components from multiple engineering disciplines (electronics, firmware, software, mechatronics, design engineering) into our next generation robotic surgery platform. The individual will work closely with the systems, software, electrical and mechanical engineering teams to understand system requirements and ensure that the integrated components meet the relevant system requirements. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with the broader team to serve as a central integration focus during product development. We are looking for an individual that has exceptional teamwork skills, communication skills, is self-motivated and is enthusiastic about robotics in the medical field and has the curiosity and foundational skills to work across disciplines.

What Your Day-To-Day Will Involve:

  • Contribute to the design of robotic sub systems and accessories for applications focused on robotic unit design, instrument manipulators, and instrument interfaces
  • Support the design and development of robust mechanical and robotic assemblies for a medical device that will be scaled to large volumes as well as capital equipment
  • Support design, integration, and test solutions in a fast-paced environment with a quick development cycle
  • Interface with vendors for component sourcing and fabrication
  • Assist in the development of manufacturing fixtures and instrumentation
  • Work closely with cross-functional departments to support the develop of robust, scalable assembly processes that are cost efficient and ready for high volume production
  • Understand system and subsystem requirements and risks
  • Create test protocols, support test execution to those requirements, and create test reports to summarize the results with minimal supervision
  • Assist with integration of completed components to the system and initial functional test.
  • Assist in maintaining lab equipment and managing configuration.
  • Define and conduct ad-hoc testing to explore requirements definition or isolate performance concerns.
  • Maintain trained status for, and comply with, all relevant aspects of the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality Management System to ensure product and support regulatory compliance
  • Understand and adhere to the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality & EHS Policies

The Qualifications We Need You to Possess

  • Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial and Systems Engineering
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel
  • Awareness of all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, verification, qualification, and transfer to manufacturing
  • Proficiency using CAD to design and document mechanisms: SolidWorks (required)
  • Experience releasing technical documentation such as test protocols, reports, work instructions, and reworks.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) to all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced company

The Qualifications We Would Like You to Possess

  • Experience with designing and/or testing of surgical products in an FDA or other regulated industry 
  • Experience in Jira for bug and investigation tracking 
  • Experience with design of integrated medical systems

Work Authorization Status: Citizen / Permanent Resident

 

For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $76,000-96,000 per year.

Plus, eligibility for an annual bonus and equity/RSUs.

PAY RANGE TRANSPARENCY

Procept is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Procept utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

We’ll provide you training for, and ask you to maintain trained status for, and comply with, all relevant aspects of the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality Management System to ensure product and support regulatory compliance. We would also ask you to understand and adhere to the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality & EHS policies.
